Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have just purchased a mansion that was formerly owned by Gregory Peck -- thereby placing the couple the closest they will ever get to an acting Oscar.



The 8,000 square foot ranch house in the Pacific Palisades was sold to the couple for a whopping $17.5 million by mega-producer Brian Grazer, according to Hot Property. The five bedroom house features a gym, swimming pool and eight bathrooms -- and Gregory Peck once shot an ad for Pabst Blue Ribbon beer in the den.

The house was originally listed for $27.5 mil. Times are tough people, sometimes $17.5 mil is all a man can get.

17. The pictured house is in Beverly Hills, not Pacific Palisades, has 27,000 sq.ft., is twice the price and was built recently, so there's no chance Gregory Peck even stepped inside it. It was also owned by developer Jeff Bazyler as a spec house and recently sold to some rich Ukranians.

22. Kellie, I know little about Ben, but you could not possibly be more wrong about Jennifer. She regularly comes back to her hometown in Charleston, WV and does all sorts of charity events, reads to kids at the public library, all sorts of things. She is an extremely kind, extremely down to earth person.

26. The faux chateau pictured was a spec house designed by Richard Landry that was completed in 2008 and originally hit the market at $45 million, before finally selling at $31.5 mil. The Peck - Grazer - Affleck/Garner house in Pacific Palisades is a one-story Ranch style house designed by Cliff May in the late 1930's and purchased by Gregory Peck in 1947.
