16. fyi for all you experts - "bitchslap" - you're not educating me on anything...and btw - the singer (JVZ) has been with the band for twice as long as the original was. yes, it's not the original singer or band anymore, but i give these guys credit for carrying the torch...long live skynyrd!

19. Of all the original members of the band only Gary Rossington is left. Sad its true, but death is part of life people. That band has left some excellent music behind, so the essence of their beings lives on. Jacksonville, Fla. is their hometown, and we do love them here. They are still like gods here, and always will be.

20. So sorry to hear about this. Ean was a great addition to the band after Leon passed away. Really going to miss him. I see that several on here say Gary is the only original member left. The truth is that technically Rick Medlocke is also an original member even though he was not on the plane crash when it went down in 1977. He originally played drums and was the only other member with the exception of Ronnie Vanzant to sing lead vocal on classic pre crash skynyrd songs. Greatest band ever. So much tragedy. Just doesnt seem fair. God bless Eans family, band members, friends and fans. "Your free as a bird now"

21. I saw Lynyrd Skynryd in the 70s at a Willie Nelson 4th of July picnic in Tulsa. It was right before the plane crash. I love the band. They were ahead of their time. Condolences to the family.

25. R.I.P # 17 Wanda..I am from and grew up in jacksonville, fl...I use to go to freebirds all the time down by the beach.

26. In 1964, SKYNYRD was Ronnie (vocals) Gary (guitar) Allen (guitar) Bob (drums) and Larry (Bass) Anyone who joined the band after those members are not original...know yer facts! However, they were and always will be the greatest of all times. Plain and simple, the Allman Brothers may have started this southern music thing, But...Skynyrd took it out of the south and gave it to the world. So long live skynyrd, then... now and in 50 years when you hear some small kid trying to play "Freebird" for the first time. Just rest in peace to every fan, family member and the ones that has gone on.

27. Steve...Tell me how Ricky Medlocke was an original band member when he played drums for skynyrd, when they had Bob Burns on drums long before "Medlocke"?

28. Too bad they can't change their name out of respect for the 99% of their dead bandmates, but obviously too many drunken fans would not know how to find them

29. Great band, I love them and saw them in 77. However, after the crash the band signed an agreement with Ronnie's widow that they would never continue with less than 3 original members. I guess that money trumps everything, including anyone's beloved memory. Change the name and quit ripping off the ignorant.
