18. This bums me out. I think he so funny and smart. But I guess he is violent and messed up, too. She's right to get out. And if she has stayed home, raised kids, and kept everything running so he can pursue his career, she totally deserves spousal support. It's the law. If you don't like it, don't get married, or at least have an iron-clad prenup. Although, I would imagine domestic violence would render any prenup useless.

Spoken like two women who sought out the "divorcee" both at the career fair. You want to live a comfortable life? EARN IT YOURSELF!!!!!

How can you look your children in the eyes and tell them that you are too greedy to allow daddy to keep all that he is paid because you feel entitled to a lifestyle you didn't earn? What must your kids think of you when they grow up and learn the truth?

It is sickening that in this day and age we reward the slothful and unambitious in a divorce by stealing earnings from the more successful. Why should any person who works hard and goes to college and becomes successful only to be made to supplement the income of a person who didn't? It is even more disgusting with celebrities. The celebrity or athlete earns what they make based on talent and skill. Why should somebody else be allow to profit from that?

20. Hey Mikey, sounds to me like you're a little bitter from being taken to the cleaners yourself. You probably deserved it, too, given that you sound pretty douchebaggy.

And what do you think the wives are doing while the "oh great and successful" men are out getting all that money they earn? The wives are at HOME not pursuing a career because she's taking care of washing his turkey-track-stained underwear, raising his kids, paying the bills, doing the grocery shopping, vacuuming the floors, hauling kids to soccer games and school functions - while HE goes out and works a "job" where he's probably douching around with the guys at his 5-martini lunches and having "business meetings" at the golf course.

These women deserve every penny of support they get.

21. Oh, and for the sake of THIS particular marriage? Robert Schimmel went through months and months of chemotherapy for cancer with his wife by his side taking care of him the entire time. He talked about it in his HBO stand-up special. Where he also talked about his first wife, the "shrew" and a variety of other horrors about "her."

Starting to see a pattern forming here?

22. Suspicion, Allegedly, etc. No one pays attention to these words. The law VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN is the biggest mistake ever made. Women all over American are 'alleging' abuse when none occurs. What about VIOLENCE AGAINST MEN? Talk about a double standard. Discrimination in action.

Standard Operating Procedure for Woman in Divorce. 1) Allegation of domestic violence 2) Order of protection against father/husband - now he is legally "temporarily" separated from his children, property, and home 3) woman gets the children, 18 years of income, cars and homes. Guy gets to be called a loser, wife beater and later if he misses a support payment a dead beat.

No wonder women initiate 85% of divorces.

25. A woman was beating the crap out of her boyfriend, he called 911. When the cops arrived, though he had blood on his face from cuts from her, the cops arrested him. My buddy had a tough time getting a new job, because the domestic violence charge was on his background check. My buddy's no celebrity, just a regular dude. I'm sure that does not happen to celebrities.

26. My parents divorced when I was 7 and were absolutely horrible to each other. There was also a HUGE custody battle. Did my dad get shafted? Absolutely. My mom took stuff his mother gave him and she even took sculptures he made in art classes. He in turn had abused her and us kids too. Dad didn't pay child support and I went without a coat one winter because of it.... the biggest losers are the kids. If you want to get divorced, put your kids before ANYTHING. Step up and be a fricking adult. And above all else DON'T BADMOUTH THE OTHER SPOUSE IN FRONT OF YOUR KIDS - the reason parents do it is to get at each other, but it majorly screws up the kids. Grow up. And if you do abuse the spouse, or you put up with it, mark my words, your kids will grow up just like you.

27. The government ought to get out of the divorce business., to start enforcing marriages. Cancel Violence Against Woman laws, which are mostly propaganda crap; cancel the on-demand divorce; cancel child support legislation. Do it for the children. Think of the children.

30. here's the funny thing... robert was the one beaten- the court has photos. now, robert has lost every gig and is totally broke. spousal maint and child support? from what? she's the reason he's broke and now he can't work. nice job killing the goose with the gold egg.
