So that whole story we told you about yesterday ... that Dennis Rodman and his posse went to a Miami restaurant and dined, dashed and one dude assaulted the manager ... well we got Dennis in NYC yesterday and he pooh-poohed the story -- kind of.

By the way, he's walking into Donald Trump's hotel -- you know, the guy who fired him on "The Apprentice."
