Gerard Butler Charged with Crime

Gerard Butler has another notch on his belt, but this time it ain't a chick ...he's scored a criminal charge.

Butler has been charged with misdemeanor criminal battery in connection with a run-in with a photog on October 7, 2008. At 2 AM, after a premiere party for "RockNRolla," Butler left Crown Bar in a limo and allegedly popped a papper in the lips three or four times. The L.A. City Attorney filed the charge yesterday.

Butler's reps have said the papper had stalked the star, and chased people through the streets. The rep claims the papper almost killed a pedestrian.Gerard Butler - Launch Photos

If convicted, Butler could face up to 6 months in jail.

Butler is due in court for an arraignment on June 10.

Butler's lawyer, Blair Berk, declined comment.

61. The paps deserve getting beaten up for stalking celebrities, including TMZ. There's no need to follow someone around and get in this/her face to take a picture, or to get in front of a car to do so. Not only are you asking for a beat down, you're looking to get run over. 66. These paps are getting out of control and ALOT of them are abusing their jobs, and causing alot of theor own grief! Half of them deserve what they get, and need to learn a lesson. 69. If the Paps choose to exercise their 1st Amendment right does that mean everyone else can exercise their 2nd Amendment rights just as freely and often? I think this pap should be taken of care in the same theme as the movie Paparazzi with Cole Hauser...hahaha

70. ever hear of a "restraining order"? what a bunch of BS. this guy is "B" status or less - totally out of control - he has a couple of movies coming out soon too, right? he's in a LIMO & being stalked? come on! then drive to the nearest police station. there are plenty of laws written to protect people legally. if they didn't want the press they should have gone into a different business - can't have your cake & eat it too. that pap was doing his job - if there wasn't a market of this crap - the paps wouldn't do it. so who is really responsible? GB should do some jail time (probably would enjoy that!) & have his visa suspended. physical violence is NOT acceptable. maybe now he'll spend some of that $$$ ( the paps helped him earn) & get himself a body guard.

74. All you haters on Gerry. stop hating. some of them need their Arses stomped. I saw one of these guys nearly knock the baby stroller of an innocent bystander as the guys harrassed Julia Roberts. In fact she told the guy to look out befoe he hit the stroller. and when he did she gave him hell. this guy did not even apologize or acknowledge the poor parent of the baby. yep just kept on shootin. what a scumbag. now I hear this guy endangered the public for his shot. ha ha...just before Gerry got his shots in. Look I'm all for these guys gettin their pics. but when they harass stalk, endanger people. put inncoent people at risk..well they need to get beat down if thats all they understand. And for you guys hating on Butler.....ha ha he has atleast 9 projects thoughout 2010. Sounds like A-list to me. 2 more years Gerry will be laughing in your faces so keep hating. I followed C. Bales career since Empire of the Sun and told friends he has the magic. now look at him. And I'll leave you with this my dear haters. Gerard Butler has the magic. and the right not to be harassed.
