Farrah's Gripping Story

The NBC documentary last night -- "Farrah's Story" -- was even more dramatic than advertised. Farrah Fawcett, Ryan O'Neal and a shackled Redmond O'Neal all came together in her battle over cancer for a truly gripping reality program ...

31. A "...truly gripping reality program." You're kidding, right? You make it sound like this woman is the first ever to experience the horror of cancer! Who thought to make this show up!?? Please! And when she said something like "I hope God lets me watch the rain from heaven" and acted as if she broken down in crying mode...PLUH-EEEEEZE!!! What is this?! Are we supposed as a nation to mourn the passing of this woman? This is ridiculous! Her clutching to that rosary and praying the Our Father after living with some guy for years and years and having that baby out of wedlock and with a past of being a thief at stores. I am embarrassed!

32. While I agree it is sad that she is sick, what I dont understand, is why on earth would she do a show about it.
She's complained that her privacy has been violated, but then she films herself and shows it to the world. There's
alot of sick people out there struggling to survive as well, but you dont see them on tv.

33. I think this film was so needed. People need to wake up and unite about cancer. I don't know what is going on. But I DO believe they are holding back on a cure. Even some people I know in the medical profession believe that. There is something definitly wrong with this. And it seems to me more people in their late 30's, 40's and 50's are dying from this disease than ever before. I have no proof, just an personal observation. As for Farrah, God Bless her for the strength she has shown in this nightmare that has tried to consume her life. But she did not let it. She kept looking for hope at every turn. And the love she has around her cannot be measured. Ryan truly does seem like the love of her life and I do not think you could ask for a stronger or more compassionate friend than Alana. She really has stood by Farrah. God Bless them all.
Becky #30 you are horrible. Truly heartless. I can't believe we can actually know someone from their comments on the site but I do not think their can be anything more to you than what you wrote. It says it all.

34. Re #30 Becky....You are a complete and utter bitch. How dare you judge anybody else about their religion or faith. Your malicious comments served no purpose, other than to show what an heartless creature you are. She started the documentary for her family and close friends. After realizing that she may be able to raise awareness of this horrible disease, she was brave enough to show the good, the bad and the ugliness of cancer. I have personally lost both of my parents and 2 brothers to cancer. I am a 5 yr. cancer survivor. All of us, with the exception of one, were diagnosed and passed away before the age of 50. She was able to put into words, all the emotions and thoughts when facing a life and death struggle. My heart goes out to Farrah & her family. God bless you Farrah and thank you for being such a strong, beautiful person.

35. jb, Farrah did this to bring light to this horrible diease and what people go through. It started out as her own personal video diary. After reading a great article in the LA TImes the other day about a former producer that was working on this doucumentary with Farrah , a ton of it was cut out by NBC, Ryan O'Neal and Alana Stewart. Farrah wanted more information on why not enough is done in the US as far as treatments and the price of cancer meds.

Yes, there may be a lot of people suffering with this diease and you don't see them on TV, Thankfully Farrah was in the position to bring it to tv. Luckly I have never known anyone with cancer, so I never knew what they went through. Because of this show I saw a small part of it. That small part was enough for me to handle.

Farrah was brave to do this. She's amazing

40. TAKEBACKYOURHEALTH #13. I AGREE WITH YOU 1000 %!!! IN ADDITION, BILLIONS AND BILLIONS OF OUR DOLLARS HAVE BEEN RAISED, FOR DECADES AND DECADES, TO FIND A CURE FOR THIS DEVASTATING DISEASE AND STILL, OUR LOVED ONES ARE DYING BY THE MILLIONS!!! PERSONALLY, I KNOW OF WHAT I SPEAK !!! IT IS INTERESTING HOW OUR SCIENTISTS HAVE BEEN ON THE FAST TRACK TO DEVELOP VARIOUS KINDS OF MEDICATIONS TO SERVE A MAN'S "PLEASURE" BUT WHEN IT COMES TO BREAST CANCER AND OTHER FORMS, THEY SEEM TO HAVE RUN INTO A "DEAD - END." THE TRUTH IS, THEY JUST DON'T CARE !!! AS LONG AS THE MONEY KEEPS COMING IN, THEIR JOBS ARE SECURE FOR ADDITIONAL DECADES AND DECADES OF, " LET'S PRETEND. " THE TRUTH IS THE TRUTH, NO MATTER HOW YOU SLICE IT!!! IF ANYONE IS "OFFENDED " BY MY STATEMENT, TOO BAD. IT IS ABOUT TIME SOME OF US SPOKE UP AND , WE WILL CONTINUE!!!

41. Just finished watching it, and WOW that is all I can say. She is a very brave woman! I truly hope that her story will bring attention to the powers that be in the realm of healthcare. We need better cancer treatment here in the states. She is lucky to have money and be able to go an give other treatments a try. The average joe or jan cannot. God Bless Farrah! Thanks for sharing your battle with us!

42. I, personally, can understand both sides of this very sad story. I do love Farrah Fawcett - very much!
Hat's off to Farrah for wanting to share such a personal time in her life. However, at the same time, it seems to me she has exploited herself as much as the tabloids have exploited her. (More so, in fact!) How very sad is that?

The average American cannot afford to fly to Germany 6 times in 2 years for all these treatments, much less STAYING there up to 6 weeks. The average person is NOT covered for this type of care! Much less have access to a private jet with a bed, plus a private car to pick you up & sweep you away for your treatment. I do not think MEDICARE covers these items, do you? In short, how can the average person benefit from her fight against cancer? Perhaps only emotionally - not treatment-wise. I do not see HOPE here for other people suffering with any disease. I only see exploitation of an icon.

The worst part about all this care - - - It didn't even work! How very, very SAD!

This documentary should have been aired to only THE RICH & POWERFUL!

What about the MILLIONS of other people that are suffering (even worse perhaps from other diseases?) Have we forgotton them? What is wrong with us?

The woman that 'leaked' Farrah's info from UCLA to the ENQUIRER - probably needed the cash to go to Germany, as she may have been sparked with "HOPE" by Farrahs plans . . . Perhaps, even excited! . . . . however, it was too late for her. People get desperate in time of crisis & despair and absolutely do the wrong things. She was absolutely wrong . . . . but who really knows her motive, as she is now dead, but might have needed the cash to do the same procedure.

OMG - how wrong is all of this! What a shame!

God, please forgive us all!

We all want to LIVE!
