61. The stange thing about people like Brit is they think the money is going to keep coming in forever, so they don't invest that much. Can anyone say MC Hammer or Michael Jackson. Yeah, I suppose in theory she COULD run out of money. But she would have to spend RIDICULOUS amounts. People on here are bitching about 3400 dollars on xmas lights? Well 3400 dollars to someone like her, is like something off the mcdonald's dollar menu to normal people like us (assuming you're not a millionaire).

So I guess i am part of the 'britney apologist brigade'... but it frustrates me that people criticize her about EVERYTHING she does, and even the way she spends her money. The point is, she can spend her money however the hell she wants to. She's worked hard for everything she has, she's filthy rich, so why not?

65. It has been reported many times that Britney Spears lost at least $40+ M and possibly much more when things where getting really bad for her at that point in time. Bad enough that one of the 1st things Mr. Spears did when he took over was returning many of the cars and putting her on some sort of budget again. This was actually very encouraging and fiscally wise. As long as Mr. Spears, the courts, and a team of lawyers are in place I would imagine that the bulk of her fortune is probably safe, but as many people here have pointed out, bigger and much wealthier people have found themselves financially destitute and with few options. Taking into account the current situation of the economy, anything is possible, but it appears that the serious hemorrhaging of capital has been reduced for right now. This is exactly what the conservatorship was put into action for. Without it, Britney may have gone broke or perhaps much worse. I just hope that Britney has the capacity to realize that ultimately this whole mess has literally saved her from an almost certain bad outcome. One would at least hope she sees this, but in her crazy world, you never know.

72. To the financial scholar who claims Britney never has to worry about money because she is worth $100 million, wake up. It's not how much one makes that concerns the affluent, it's how they can hold onto it. This is why they try to hire the best and the brightest to manage their wealth. Blowing through $10 million on reckless expenses doesn't build wealth, it destroys it. Mike Tyson was worth $300 million while earning $27 million a fight. Billion dollar companies evaporate due to ludicrous business practices, you may want to revisit Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers. She better get her finances in order, or that Louisiana hillbilly will be lip-synching for food.
