Katy Perry's Cape Crusade -- The Coverup

Katy Perry crossed the line when she showed favoritism for "American Idol" favorite Adam Lambert last week -- and unless you DVR'd the live show, you'll never see her pink Glambert cape again.

If you go on iTunes and purchase Katy's performance from last week's "Idol", the closeup of her silk Glambert billboard has been altered -- you can't even tell there's writing on the cape.

The rest of the video is exactly the same -- we put the two different versions side-by-side so you can see.

Fox and iTunes both declined to comment.

17. She should never have been allowed to come with it on to begin with. The Judges have been no better. If I were Danny & Kris I would have said Adam can have the win & walked off stage to a contract any way. That would have made real news.I would really love to see Kris win, just to get at the Judges & Perry too. Adam seems like a nice guy, but based on his performance that night he sould have went home.

19. I think everyone is welcome to their opinion. Seems like every year some entertainer has their favorite. Last year Natasha Bedingfield come on and went over and sat with David Archuleta and that never caused a problem. Who cares, just like the rest of us they have their favorites.

20. I don't feel it was right for a performer to do this. I almost fell out of my chair. I did mute my TV, though...My goodness, why do people think this girl is talented....I would rather tolerate Adam's annoying scream than listen to this non talented girl.

24. I don't understand why people are so upset about her having his name on his cape. People have signs up in the audience, celebrities are talking about their favorites, celebrities are telling the fans on their twitter/myspace/facebook to vote for certain people. This is no different. And I'm not even a Katy Perry fan, so that's not why I don't see it as a big deal. I just think theres WAY more important things to be worried about than Katy Perry putting someone's name on a cape.

25. In keeping with all the celebrities remaining neutral----I think it was in the poorest of taste that Idol let that go!!! All the little freakazoids out there that LOVE Katy Perry, will vote for Adam. This year has been a real disappointment-not in the talent, but with Paula mauling Simon every five seconds and that Cara creature--too much to handle. Paula and Simon have a thing for each other--I've never seen anyone grope someone the detest!!!! Sexual tension at it's best.

Katy Perry is a flash in the pan!!! Also a pain in the ass. They should let Jamie Fox, and all the others endorse someone!!!

Bottom line: which contestant will i enjoy listening to on my ipod? that would be kris allen. i think adam lambert has talent, but he is much more geared for stage productions, ..he is just so over-the-top. i think danny gokey was the best vocalist hands down, but with him out of the running, i support kris allen. katy perry's performance was just awful. if she had been an idol contestant, she wouldn't have made it past the first round. she must definitely be doctored in the studio.

29. They EDITED this out of the iTunes version? Jeez what is this, North Korea? Was it a stupid move on Katy's part? Yes, but good lord Fox don't treat us like idiots and attempt to rewrite history. It's a shame they aren't embracing this stunt since it actually breaks up the intolerable monotony of the show itself.
