Simon Cowell's Ex Attacked After 'American Idol'

We've learned Terri Seymour -- Simon Cowell's ex -- was assaulted after attending the "American Idol" finale last night.

It happened at L.A. Live -- a complex that includes the Nokia Theatre where "A.I." was taped. A 33-year-old woman walked up to Terri, asked if she was Simon's girlfriend. The suspect allegedly attacked her and attempted to choke her.

Simon CowellThe suspect -- Janice Thibodeaux -- was booked on felony battery. She's being held on $52,700 bail.

We're told Terri refused medical treatment. She was escorted out of the complex by three cops.

Just found out Thibodeaux is twice Terri's size, weighing in at 200 lbs.

UPDATE -- TMZ spoke with Thibodeaux's brother and sister who told us Janice is "not crazy" and this is "way out of character" for her.

35. I just can't get over all of the hateful people in this country. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. Do you all raise your kids to be as hateful as you are? If you do, let's just hope some of your daughters or sisters or mothers, get attacked and get the crap choked out of them, and just maybe you will change your tune. 40. Don't they have Security guards at these large gatherings? If so, they apparently don't deserve whatever they are getting in pay. I have no idea in the world who Simon's Ex is, but she certainly deserved to be protected from that nut case who attacked her. I think Simon is very handsome, but he sure is a real downer most of the time. Another point is that I think the Judges in these TV contests act very immaturely. Judges are supposed to be inscrutable and not let anyone know who they are for or against. They should make the Judges take a brief course on how to act and how NOT to act.

Anyway I don't know Simon's ex personally so i'm not gonna say anything bad about her. As far as the attack goes-nobody deserves to be attacked at all. I hope she is alright and presses charges against this thing. I will say bad things about her because who does she think she is grabbing this woman by the throat. I know a fat b*itch just like her and if anyone needs to be attacked it's her for being a crazy B*tch!!!! I don't care what her brother says, she's a bully!!!!!LOL
