Vanessa Williams and "biblically correct" Miss California have both had their reputations tarnished by nudie pics in their past -- but according to the "Ugly Betty" star, it's pageantry in general that's damaging to one's credibility.
Williams was on "Larry King Live" last night, and when Carrie Prejean's name came up, she blasted beauty pageants as a whole -- calling them a "setback" to anyone trying to be a "serious artist."

4. I was lucky enough to hang out with V a few years ago when I lived in NY. She is a total class act. Beautiful inside and out! I will always think fondly of the time I spent with her (staring in disbelief as she ate Chicken Fried Steak, mashed potatoes, gravy and all the fixin's at Virgil's Barbeque on a matinee day during her run in "Kiss of the Spiderwoman")

6. Damn, Vanessa has to be one of the most beautiful women on TV. As far as pageantry and being a serious artist, can anyone name the last five Miss USA or Miss America winners? Vanessa not only has an incredible singing career, but a stellar acting one. She is really the only one to make it big! No matter whose cooch she had her face in.

9. Really? No one know or cares who Miss America is. The only reason she has a career is those photos and the controversy. With out them she just would of served out her term and disappeared. You can have the most talent in the world. But if you don't get the break it doesn't matter. I have no idea who Miss America is right know. But I can tell you everything about Miss California.

I agree completely with everything you just said.Perez Hilton made Carrie a star. I was stunned by her photos. Disappointed. I don't understand why young women think they must take their clothes off to make it in Hollywood but that seems to be the way it is.

13. Vanessa Williams is an extremely sexy and very smart lady. I imagine that she has a really good idea as to what these beauty contests do to a person's life. I think she forgets that her fame and money ultimately came from being Miss America, getting torn down, and later being a Penthouse feature. It is a big price to pay, but if you want money, you are going to pay for it one way or another. It is human nature to blame everyone for your mistakes except yourself.
