Clay Aiken Shreds 'Idol' -- Can't Stand the Posers

Clay AikenYou're not a true ex-"American Idol" contestant unless you bash the show that made you famous.

Clay Aiken took to his personal website (available to view for the low, low price of $29.95/year) to rip "Idol" and its king of glam runner-up Adam Lambert. As Gawker pointed out, despite only hearing Lambert sing once, Aiken claimed he thought his "ears would bleed" when he belted out "Ring of Fire." Pot, perhaps you've met kettle?

Then Aiken played the "it was better back in my day" card and wrote, "The show was different then, and folks made it in seasons 1-3 because they were 'real' people who happened to sing/entertain well. But, somewhere along the way, AI stopped being about real people."

Note to Clay -- real people don't charge other real people $29.95/year to access their website.

31. It's $19 to access his site, not $29. The article is incorrect.

32. Good for Aiken! the public is not stupid. We all watched the constant judge pimping of lambert. aiken has a right to his opinion of that performance. I liked lambert most of the time & it made my "ears bleed". Everybody has a right to their opinion even celebrities. His is no more important than mine but I'll fight for the right for him to say it. Don't see how his not liking the performance is sour grapes or jealousy either. The guy appears to be successful in his own right. I've read several articles in the past several weeks saying the same thing Aiken is so whats the big deal!! Somebody needs to call AI on their crap!!

33. Good for Clay for speaking his opinion!! Too bad you you only published part of his blog so it would fit in your agenda. Clay said Adam was not his cup of tea....so what?? He NEVER said he sisn't like him. He was also honest about his feelings about AI. I think most people agree with him that something has to change on that show. THe numbers don't lie and the finale was low in viewership.

Go Clay.........

34. Hahahahahahahahaha...that's a good one, Clay. I wouldn't pay a penny for any of Clay's albums, but I'll be waiting in line to buy Adam's. His "Ring of Fire" was HOT HOT HOT. I had to take a cold shower afterwards and I'm a 55 yr old grandma!!! Clay, you are soooo jealous!!

35. Poor, Poor Clay Aiken. I think I speak for most (hopefully all) Canadians when I say, "Don't bite the hand that feeds you, EH!?"

36.
I stopped watching AI long ago because of their pimping. Clay just said it like it is and he has a right to his opinion. By the way Simon also did not like Adams version of Ring Of Fire. Clay did not attack Adam just the fact that his singing was not his cup of tea.

Gene..

Response from Gene:
Respectfully, I don't think Adam is a rock singer. He sounds much more convincing singing ballads, and Broadway shows. His voice doesn't seem to have a "rock quality." But, I'm sure he's going to do just fine.

37. Mr. Aiken is right on the money. American Idol is no longer about finding undiscovered talent, it is about locating and pimping an already polished performer in an attempt to anoint them as the "chosen one" and make lots and lots of money off of them! Anyone who does not realize that is under the age of 12, very innocent or brain dead.
And for what it is worth, I totally agree with Mr. Aiken's views on Adam Lambert. He made my ears bleed too!!! Often!!!
Someone needs to explain to Adam that it is called SINGING, not SCREECHING!! Someone should also explain to him that staying in key is a good idea, a little drama goes a long way and just because you can scream it long and loud does not mean it is a good idea to do so every single time freaking time! Less is more Adam.
Of course this is just MY opinion, which I have a right too, just like Clay Aiken has a right to his. Or is that not the case in TMZ land?
Yeah, I know, stupid question.

38. Well, I gotta agree with Clay. Adam makes MY ears bleed, too. Why is it that all over the internet folks are saying the same thing that Clay is, but HE is the one who gets blasted for expressing an opinion? The man must STILL be awfully powerful if so many people are hanging on his every word.

39. This can prepare Adam for what is to come..he needs to acquire thick skin..just ask Clay!

41. "Note to Clay -- real people don't charge other real people $29.95/year to access their website. "

Stop lying, TMZ! All official fan clubs charge for membership. And here's the point Clay was making:

"I think many voters got sick of being “told who to vote for”. I think many were turned off by the blatant favoritism shown towards one contestant. Therefore, on that last night, they used their votes against a contestant that they were tired of hearing about and for the contestant who had been written off. And, at the same time, I think they voted AGAINST an American Idol that has, for four years now, been more about the slick productions and polished contestants than it has been about finding the raw talent that it did in its first three seasons.

Those votes for Kris were also votes to return the show to its roots of finding “real” contestants with undiscovered talent and giving them the chance to grow and shine. They were votes that said “we’re tired of seeing contestants who already seem to know it all”."

42. I guess many people agreed with Clay Aiken, Adam makes my ears bleed too.

43.
jessicanada you do not speak for me!! A little presumptuous to think you speak for all Canadians.

I don`t think Clay Aiken will be going broke anytime soon as he was 6th on the Forbes money list of AI alumni making 2.2 million without even touring this year.

44. What part of clay is real? The make over, the artificially inseminated baby, the blue contacts, the FIVE-years-to-long-to-come out-of-the-closet-moment? I mean really? He really thinks anything about him has been real since his american idol days?
But out of everything in this article the part that really shocks me is.. who the hell is paying for access to his website?
I think it's about time they all come out of the closet too!!
