Lee Majors: I Couldn't Watch the Farrah Special

Farrah Fawcett's first and only husband, Lee Majors, was not among the nearly nine million people who tuned in to see the TV special about her cancer battle.

Lee Majors -- play video

Yesterday at LAX, the former "Six Million Dollar Man" said the "whole thing was a little bit over done."

On a totally separate note ... Majors just celebrated his 70th birthday. We salute you, Col. Austin.

106. Wow Lee Majors, who knew you would make Ryan Oneil look so good. For a beautiful woman to share her battle with ANAL cancer with the world took real nads. It was a gift, and if cancer was too ugly for you, well good thing she had a real man with her at the end.

107. "It was actually Katie Couric who brought this type of cancer to an awareness when her husband died from it."
Posted at 2:03PM on May 23rd 2009 by Lori

Lori, you are actually incorrect in saying Katie Couric raised awareness of this type of cancer when her husband died from it; Katie's husband, Jay Monahan, did NOT die of the same cancer Farrah had. He died of colorectal cancer and Farrah had anal cancer (much rarer form of cancer). They are not one and the same kind of cancer. According to ABC news, anal cancer is so rare that only roughly 5,300 Americans are diagnosed each year (on average). According to CNN Health, "Fawcett's cancer battle brings attention to this rare illness. This type of cancer is less common than rectal and colon cancer, Anal cancer affects more women and the illness is usually found in people who are in their early 60's. Petr F. Hausner, an associate professor of medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland said, 'The American Cancer Society estimates that 5,000 new cases of anal cancer are diagnosed each year and about 680 people die from it annually. Meanwhile, colorectal cancer has 148,000 new cases and about 50,000 deaths each year. Anal cancer is "much rarer than colon cancer," Hausner said. "For 50 colon cancer patients, we see one anal cancer... It's a rare disease. It is becoming a little bit more frequent. I would say that people are not aware."

Farrah did NOT make this documentary to make MONEY--it was actually started as a "video diary" because she believed she would be healed and go into remission. This video was to be a story of her journey to offer encouragement to others going through the same thing. Farrah's cancer returned and she decided to continue filming as a way to raise awareness as well as to offer hope and encouragement to other cancer patients. This lovely and courageous woman passed away today. We should lifting up her family, friends, and other loved ones as they mourn her passing, NOT finding any fault with her. Farrah, it is my prayer you are delighting in your Lord's presence at this very moment. Thank the good Lord, your pain and all your suffering is gone forevermore. You will be remembered for the beautiful person you have always been--a beautiful and courageous woman with a compaasionate heart. Rest in peace, sweet lady...

108. Sorry to hear about Farrah. Don't understand what the "lawsuit" reference is about. Can anybody enlighten me?

109. # 76 I have never responded to these boards but I had to respond to your idiotic post. "Isn't he the guy that was married to Farrah." You moron, if it was not for Lee Majors nobody would even know who Farrah is. Period. Most of us only had an interest in her because she was married to Lee. A man who tried to help her pathetic career. She had no talent whatsoever, but Lee was in love with her so he tried to help him. He got her on the SMDm 3 or 4 times. Her acting was horrible.
Lee is right, the show wasway overdone. O'Neil is pathetic. Now Farrah will have to answer to God for her ADULTERY!!

110. REMEBER FARRAH LEFT LEE FOR HIS BEST FRIEND. JUST BECAUSE SHE IS DECEASED DOES NOT MEAN HE WILL ALL OF A SUDDEN BE SAD. SHE AND RYAN HURT HIM AND I DO NOT BLAME HIM..I WOULD NOT HAVE WATCHED IT EITHER.BUT PERSONALLY I DID AND IT WAS SAD AND ALL I COULD THINK ABOUT IS DID OR WILL SHE ASK GOD FOR FORGIVENESS SO SHE CAN ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM. EVERYONE IS NOT AN ANGEL IF THEY DID NOT ASK FOR FORGIVENESS.

111. WHAT THE HECK DO YOU EXPECT SHE WAS AN ADULTER I HOPE SHE ASK GOD FOR FORGIVENESS IF NOT NO MATTER WHAT MAN SAYS OR THINK BECAUSE THEY LOVED HER SHE WENT TO HELL.

112. he's a washed up dirt bag. hope he gets anal cancer and see if he over does it a little bit. farrah made the special as an educational tool people. she didn't do it for fame or fortune, hell she already had that.

113. To Poster 112

You talk about education. Well, sadly "education" about how to treat and speak about people with respect has seemingly passed you by as has the ability to correctly interpret what a person says..

What sort of education, family-learned, school-learned or life-learned, taught you to wish cancer on anyone? Discussion, debate, disagreement with people and about people is fine. And there is no law that says you have to like everyone in this world. But wishing them a terminal illness? As a joke it's tasteless, as an expression of your genuine opinion it's depressing.

To TRUTH

Farrah's relationship with God was her business. I'm a Christian and like many don't presume to think I know about other's suitability to enter the Kingdom of God. None of us live perfect lives and we stumble along the way all the time but God still loves us. Isn't that what makes God remarkable; His capacity for forgiveness?

As to His judging adulterers, it is just possible He has His work cut out judging the vitriol and narrow-minded opinion frequently and often inarticulately expressed on this board.

Rest in peace Farrah and condolences to your family. I hope neither they or the Majors bother visiting this place. It's not worth the trouble.

114. if ones listens to what Lee Majors ACTUALLY said on the video...it differs greatly from what is typed and quoted of him...people are so gulible and some down right stupid...

He did NOT say nor insinuate anything negative towars his former wife Farrah Fawcett...

Once again, the media is attempting to destroy an innocent HUMAN BEING, again, there ought to be a law against the media for the hatred they promote...they are going to get many murdered only to sell their stories....

I now, understand why some seek to beat the hell out of them

115. He's had plenty of time to "get over it"...
but, the one thing about the stain of ADULTERY and BETRAYAL...
they never seem to "wash out" over the years.

He didn't yell or hit anybody!

And, neither he nor Farrah should have cancer and die of it.
She did.
And, I'm certain that Mr. Majors didn't throw a party!

Death and cancer happens.
Adultery and betrayal shouldn't.

We, the living, must prevent what we can.

They BOTH were American "icons"... not GREAT actors... just humans like us.

Bless 'em both!

116. There is no justification for beating the hell out of anybody. Jeez how this discussion gets distorted.

117. I do not blame Lee Majors for saying what he said. Why should he care? He probably did call her and Ryan got in the way. You never know. He was the one that made her into a star and she burned him. She used him and then left him. On another note, I did like her tv movies.

118. Didn't watch the special but listened to Lee's comments. I heard short answers to try to head off more questions that he didn't care to answer. The reporter mentioned the lawsuits and stuff and that is when Lee said it was overdone. That could be taken so many ways-perhaps that the attention to the lawsuit is overdone or that he would have personally taken a different approach to the issue. I don't think he is required to show allegiance to her or her to him for that matter. Their marriage was their business and I'm sure fault goes both ways. Lee may have been physically abusive to her (I was little in the 70's) but Ryan hasn't exactly treated her with respect. Bottom line is that Farrah chose to do it and it was her right whether anyone agrees or not........

119. Bandit you may have been little in the 70s but that makes you at least 31 now and as such a certain maturity should apply to your comments. Yes, even on TMZ!

THERE HAS NEVER, EVER been any suggestion that Lee was abusive to Farrah – not from the press, not from gossip and not from Farrah. To carelessly suggest he was when there is no evidence is totally irresponsible and very unfair to the man.
