Whoopi's Vegas Act Cut Short After Fan Collapses

Whoopi GoldbergThe show musn't always go on ... especially when an audience member has a medical emergency towards the end of your set.

Whoopi Goldberg
ended her Las Vegas stand up show early Friday night after a man in the crowd collapsed ... reportedly due to a seizure he experienced during the show.

According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, the incident occurred towards the end of Whoopi's set -- and the comedian told the crowd it was best to call it a night so the man could be assisted properly. The man's condition is currently unknown.

FYI -- the whole thing went down in Steve Wynn's Encore hotel -- in the same room where Danny Gans used to perform. And yes -- fans were already suggesting the room was cursed as they streamed out of the theater.

16. Mrs. Whoopi did the right thing. I had done some volunteer work as a school nurse's assistant for my community service hours when I was in high school during my (I am 25 now) and I would have to deal with this girl (she was a senior, too), Amy that had both migraines and seizures and the only thing that I could do when she showed up at the nurse's office is go in one of the rooms with beds in it, shut the door, sit down in a chair nexk to the bed that she way laying on and keep a watch on her because her migraines would sometimes trigger a seizure. I had to sit next to her during a school band/chorus concert assembly and her and I sat in the row right behind the front row and she had a really bad seizure and if I wouldn't of had my cell phone on me (My mom had an exception filed so I could have my cell phone on me because of my status as a school nurse's assistant) to call 911 for an ambulance, I don't know what would have happened. The assembly was stopped early by the chorus teacher. I had to ride in the ambulance with her so I could help explain to the doctors and nurses at the hospital what happened. My mom was all panic stricken when I called her at 12:30 p.m. (She never gets calls from me at that time on Mondays-Fridays) and told her that I was at the hospital with Amy and my motor scooter was still parked at school on the senior parking lot next to my friend Alexandra's car. She told me that my neighbor's son, Mike, who was a junior at the same school, would ride the motor scooter home and that I was to stay there with Amy. The worst thing was that neither the hospital or myself could get in touch with her parents, who were out of town in Buffalo, NY attending a funeral. The assistant principal really ripped into her parents because they only left a cell phone number that was out of service. I had to miss a few days of school helping Amy, she loaned me her front door key to her house so that I could pick up a few things that she needed. Amy practically demanded that I be put down as a secondary contact to prevent incidents like this from happening again. She had broken her left arm and her right leg when she fell in the floor with the seizure.

18. The show was a disappointment for sure. She used old material and it was cut short. but it was great watching a true professional in action. She handled the situation with grace. I do wish the hotel would have provided a comp or something, since we paid for a full show
