Country Star Turns Himself in to Cops

John RichJohn Rich and Jared Ashley can't settle their differences -- so now the cops are involved.

Rich turned himself in to the Metro Davidson County Criminal Justice Center in Nashville, Tenn. this afternoon to face misdemeanor charges of assault and harassment stemming from an alleged altercation between the two. Rich and Ashley have both filed civil lawsuits against each other -- Ashley sued Rich for the alleged assault, and Rich sued back for defamation.

Rich, in a statement released by his lawyers, claims that since he can't reach a settlement with Ashley, he'd rather defend himself "through the legal process to the fullest extent of the law." He says, "I trust that the truth will come out through the process of our American justice system and that I will be completely exonerated at the end of the day."

18. He's actually a nice guy. Born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. He has been a songwriter for YEARS in country music--most country music fans know exactly who he is. Written lots of #1 songs. Probably just a case of someone wanting something more from someone with money.

29. BIG AND RICH are a great rock/country/rap and everything else under the sun group. I got their concert dvd and it rocks! They are not a one hit wonder , and could blow most of these so called country and rock groups off the stage. I don't think they have broken-up because they are scheduled to play the FAIR here this summer. Also they love this country and it's veterans. LONG LIVE BIG AND RICH !!!!!!!!

30. As a hick myself, I must say that I absolute hate this DOUCHE BAG. GUN TOTING, WANNABE COUNTRY MUSIC LEGEND!!!!! I wish the next time he unloads a few rounds, in his orgionly Barbra Mandral mansion, it would misfire , or riquochet and hit him in the balls. Some people shouldn't procreate, and he's at the top of my list. I was bored one morning, flipping channels, came upon the USA network, in which he was a judge on Nashville Star (pathetic at best), and there were these two teenage contestants. Apparently they had rolled their eyes at Jewel after she had critized their performance, and John had all but spanked them on live TV!!! He was verbically abusing these two gals, going on a rant, like how dare they act like the teenagers they are, by disrespection one of the judges. A silly eyeroll. Who hasn't rolled their eyes at Jewel? She married a rodeo clown, or cowboy, whatever he does? Oh, yeah, dances with the stars. Now he punches out contestants. Next season, god forbid there might be one, on "Gone Country", he can give six-shooter lessons to Chris Brown!!! Oh, the horror!!
