Jay Leno -- Tonight and Good Luck

Jay Leno bid his adieu to the "Tonight Show" last night, but he had trouble speaking over the applause.

Tonight ShowJay Leno

Jay gave Conan O'Brien a boost that Jay never never had when he started -- the stage on the predecessor's last show.

Jay's best joke -- when he started 17 years ago, his hair was black and the President was white.

31. I loved Jay Leno on the Tonight Show. He smoothly breezes through interviews and monologues. Conan O'Brien I was a fan of when he first took over for Letterman, his first 6 years. He's really zaney and what's with the new look. His hair looks like its sprayed like a woman's. I read he's going to stick to his format from Late Night, I don't know how that will appeal to The Tonight Show audience. I'm glad Jay will be on at 10p.m..

33. Both Leno and Letterman are good at what they do. Read joke; Audience laughs. Read joke; Audience laughs. Read next joke; Audience laughs again. Not a whole lot of creativity going on there. Oh, Letterman somethings is goofy-like he pushes his stomach and the band responds with a funny sound! Now THAT's creativity!?? Let's face it. They do whatever the writers tell them to do. Even Jay and Dave's special little bits outside the studio are all someone else's ideas. Conan is more spontanteous-but in a stupid frat-boy type body-function humor! Never found it that funny after about 5 minutes you got the jist of it. NOW, Craig Ferguson on the other hand does amazing things with NO help from CBS and Dave Letterman, who owns the Late Late Show. He has some ideas about where the show will go, but when the cameras start, he's the one. Creative, spontaneous, and does about the BEST interviews on TV. He doesn't let the "uppity-ups" from Hollywood by. He forces them into talking about things that are interesting and off the beaten track of some movie or book that they're pushing. I only wish that Craig could get an earlier time slot. He better be Dave's replacement or I'm turning in my remote!!! AND my tivo!!! He's a good writer too. Can't wait for his new book out in Sept. He should keep writing-but not give up his day job!

34. I think Jay did pretty well those 17years, but Conan is as ugly as all get out even verging on hideous. I think he's prejudice and pretty much a stiff. He's hard to watch hope the studios have lots of bright lights unlike his studio in New York and lord wait until he sees all those black people in the band he may turn talcom powder white. With all that being said good luck to the new late night show asshole.

Sincerely

35. Johnny Carson didn't like Leno. He refused to ever come on the Tonight Show after he left because he knew that NBC had screwed Letterman. Carson did appear on Letterman's show once, but that was it. He made his statement by coming on Dave's show, not "the chin's".

Conan is a manic boob that people will grow very tired of very quickly. Jimmy Fallon's show is horrible, Craig Ferguson is much better without any help from CBS or Letterman.

NBC has made a huge mistake. NBC = Nothing But Crap

36. I have tuned in to the show featuring Craig Ferguson. He's not really that talented. But I do like him a little.

Jay Leno is affable. A little too much into gay stuff. Not very talented but he knows his audience.

Conan O'Brien, I hope is savvy enough to go for the majority, here. But he's the most talented of them.

Kimmel is too monotonous for my taste.

All of this is only my opinion!

37. #7. Excellent! You gave us an educated assessment of U.S. society. I don't like what you said; but I agree with you, a hundred percent!

Keep up the good work.

38. Unless Conan stops spending a half hour at least on himself and being Goofy his show will never come close to the REAL tonight show! He needs to spend more time on his guests and less time on himself as he is boring and not at all funny!

39. Jay Leno is one of the last true gentlemen in show business and is an absolute class act. Anyone who thinks different needs a lesson in what makes a man a real man.

40. Conan got so screwed! The Jay Leno show will be a copy cat tonight show only at 10 pm. he will get to do the top story of the day jokes and get the better guests before Conan. Way to go NBC!

Bring back LENO

45. Leno's fans will all be dead in a few years anyway. Conan's going to do a much better job on the Tonight Show than Leno ever did. Of course, being funny doesn't always translate into success because the majority of people in this country are idiots and would rather have stupid bits like "Headlines."
