Being preached at is annoying, but the way to deal with that is to either not listen or formulate a reasonable counter argument if you don't agree with someone. Instead, people here are insulting her decision to not make a big deal out of her ethnicity. Judging people based on race is racist and that is what people are doing when they dump on someone for not wanting to be the poster girl for Latinas. Although I am personally more concerned about other issues than sharks, I think it's great to see a celebrity who cares about an issue other than herself. I doubt that Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan could stop thinking about themselves long enough to care about sharks or anything else. Yes, it shows a lack of sense to do what Jessica did and she deserves to know that she did something dumb, but we have all made dumb decisions. Let's keep some perspective here. Bernie Madoff = douche; Jessica Alba = well-intentioned but dumb. By the way, I do research on sharks and they are endangered. I am also a Latina.

I think the frustration you're reading is the result of years of preachy celebrities trying to impose their views on the public. The fact that she never questioned herself about whether this was the right thing to do says a lot about her sense of entitlement and Hollywood self-righteousness. By the way, what WAS the point of all of this? Are sharks suddenly in imminent danger? It was illegal, stupid, AND pointless.
