39. It sounds as though the pageant office was just doing exactly what she had asked them to do - pass along any offers to her. The e-mails also confirm the pageant office's story rather than hers - earlier, she had claimed they were trying to push her into such gigs, but the e-mails sound as though they were either more interested in getting her to decline them or were being neutral about it. I would expect them to want her to decline Playboy if they had been concerned about the earlier pictures that surfaced, so her story that they wanted her to do Playboy doesn't really make much sense. Has any pageant of this type ever actually wanted their title holders to do Playboy?

My suspicion is that she was trying to get fired by the pageant because she thought she could do better short-term and long-term with other offers (not necessarily the ones in this story... you know TMZ is rather selective!). She must have figured that if she were fired rather than just quitting, she could blame it all on her answer to "the question" and thus gain more mileage from that situation in certain quarters she might consider a source of future work.

I think she'll find that although people in those certain quarters might admire and approve her answer, they ain't stupid and they might not be so accepting of breach of contract. She would have been better off just honoring her commitment to the Miss California thing (declining anything that conflicted with her ethical framework but otherwise doing what was asked) and network network network until her contract was over. I know it's hard to honor a contract that will pay less than a new offer -- I've had to do it often enough myself, the really well-paying client can surface with a job right after I've accepted a lower-paying project that will tie me up too long to do both. But word gets around pretty quickly if you're unreliable. Not good to start a career with everybody knowing that you might not do the assignments if you don't feel like it.

A pageant title isn't really like a simpler job where 2 weeks notice will do because you're more interchangeable - they have to plan months in advance and spend a lot of time and energy on publicity around the "winner", and pass over other well qualified candidates who might not still be available if the "winner" decides to quit just because she wants to take opportunities that opened up for her only because of her pageant title. I gave 1 year's notice when I wanted to quit a college teaching job, for instance, and even gave them the option of another year if we couldn't find a replacement in time (I had just signed a two-year contract with them when I decided I wanted to go into freelance work). I certainly would never have considered just not showing up to teach my classes... which is basically what she has done. I would have been delighted to just quit and get started on my new business, but it wouldn't have been fair to the school and my department - it takes months to find people to fill such positions in my fields of specialization (they had interviewed quite a few before settling on me several years before), potential applicants are scattered all over the country rather than local and often are not available to start until September because they are still in grad school or in another teaching position. We had to wade through 100 applications (mostly not fitting the job specs...), set up interviews with both the department and other people at the school, arrange travel for the interviewees, etc. while still doing the regular business of the department. So everybody really appreciated the long advance notice and my willingness to fulfill the whole 2 years of the contract if required. I survived the wait, and so could have the former Miss California.

41. Now it all makes sense. Prejean can make more $$ outside of the restrictions of the pageant industry and wants to break free NOW while her celebrity wick is still more than a foot long. By this time next year, she would have been long forgotten. Hence, she breached her contract. Don't be surprised if Mr. T! doesn't just say "Your fired!", but says "You're served!" as well!

45. Teh show is so fake ! They all get paid the only money going ot charity is what viewers donate ! How could they offer her a week or more for 3 weeks if its all based on votes? Sounds like it fixed to me.
Im thinkthe heidi spencer drama was very fixed as well. When she claimed to be in such pain she wasnt even doubled up or anything and her fake throwing up was just that .
They said she did not have gallbladder or whatever so MAYBE It was a gastic ulcer or gastritic . Isnt that just plain gas? Heidi went home crying with gas pains ? She refused food and water as she was fasting so she did ti to herself. Then on the table they asked when she ate last and she said last night so she hadnt gone very long with out food now has she.
