Chastity BonoTMZ just got this statement from Neil G. Giuliano, President of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD):

"Chaz Bono's decision to live his life authentically represents an important step forward, both for him personally and for all who are committed to advancing discussions about fairness and equality for transgender people," said Neil G. Giuliano, president of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). "Coming out as transgender is an extremely personal decision and one that is never made lightly. We look forward to hearing Chaz's story in his own words in the future."

"GLAAD encourages media outlets to cover this story accurately, and to avoid speculation about the details of Chaz's story before he is ready to tell it in his own words."

"The GLAAD Media Reference Guide and the Associated Press Stylebook call on media to use the name and pronoun preferred by the transgender person - in this case, referring to him as Chaz and using male pronouns."

47. Transgender men are not lesbians trying to be straight, most lesbians are very proud to be women, but not a transgender. Some of them are straight before the transition and they are gay after the transition, since they are still attracted to men, before and after. Sexual behaviour is not the same as gender. And that's why being a man hasn't got much to do with just having a penis and having an erection, they are men every minute of their life, and if they lose their penis or don't have erections they don't feel as females. It is the same thing with transgendered men, they feel much more comfortable as males and are happier after their sex change. I know many and they feel much better.

49. I don't know how i ended up on this site, but, the majority of you are IDIOTS!!! Trangender has nothing to do with being gay or lesbian. It is about being male or female on the outside, while the inside is another gender.

Should we be referring to anyone as "it"?. There is nothing wrong with Chaz, but plenty wrong with the majority of you.

I can't imagine how hard his life has been. It takes a lot of courage to change anything about who you are and how people perceive you. Good luck, Chaz.

50. If she feels like a he and this is what she wants to do, then more power to her/him. Americans need to open their minds and quit judging others so harshly. God teaches us to love and accept others, not judge. Go Chaz, be what you were meant to be.

51. Mary Bono Mack's claims are dubious at best. In a TV interview a few years ago she said, very sternly, that she was against gay marriage and is on record as being against same-sex adoption. Who knows what she's refering to in this situation? It could be for Chastity Bono's physical health. Considering her personal and professional history, this big a shift seems unlikely. Also, Chastitiy Bono was at odds with her father and step-mother at the time of his death, unfortunately. While he was said to be more supportive than Cher at the onset, neither were very supportive at all, which is a shame since Chastity had no choice but to be supportive of them in their decisions; from multiple marriages and living partners to questionable fashion faux pas. Chastity deserves better, as do all gay and trans-gender young people.

I disagree with everything you sick people say. Go hide somewhere and stop trying to force your crazyness on the American people who are straight.

We dont have to put out statements about how we live or what we do in our private live.
