'The Price Is Right' Achilles Heel

6/14/2009 3:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

He came on down ... and stayed down.

A former contestant is suing the folks at the "Price is Right" -- claiming he was tripped on his way down to Contestant's Row last year ... and hasn't been the same since.

Here's the deal -- While Michael Lerner was charging down the aisle in a fit of uncontrollable glee, dude claims a folding chair being used by a "cheering" audience member struck him on his right ankle.

In the lawsuit filed Friday, Lerner claims he suffered a torn Achilles Tendon and a herniated lumbar disc ...resulting in multiple surgeries ... with harmful mental and physical residue.

He's suing for unspecified damages -- if you guess how much, you win the showcase showdown.

I guess that this guy did not win any prizes or money on the show and plans to collect anyways. Talk about sore losers; here's a big one.

The former shadow of WTC one.

This guy's chances for a success - is as thin as "The book of Canadian war heroes".

That said, let him sue for what's behind door # 2 and televise it...might give LMD a jumpstart since Bob left.
Drew is a loser and this show is on life support.

The REAL DEAL

Maybe I am stupid but I can't understand half of the random comments people post here. What happend to proper sentence structure and the use of grammer. If you can't express your opinion in a way others can understand, what is the point of posting a comment.

So let me guess: he didn't make it to the showcase showdown, right? Betcha if he'd won something he wouldn't be sueing. Sounds like a case of sour grapes to me; sueing cuz his azz is clumsy. WTF???

To the Canadian guy, you're obviously not getting a good education if they're teaching you that.
Secondly, one would assume there's video of this. You don't stick around and play a game if your Achilles is damaged.

Well, here's the deal.. I ruptured my Achilles Tendon at a movie theatre, when i walked off a riser on the level above where we were going to sit.

It's a really painful injury and takes a long time to heal, including 2 months of physical therapy.

After this happened, I talked to 3 personal injury lawyers. They all said the same thing. If the theatre is negligent, they'd have to pay. A spilled soda or popcorn oil made the step slippery, or the step was damaged, etc. None of those things applied and there wasn't anything I could do. The theatre DID pay co-pay costs as a courtesy.

In the case of this guy falling, if the chair that caused his fall was in his way, it could be implied that the theatre was negligent in not securing the seating properly and as such would indeed be liable for damages. At the very least, they should pay the medical costs and the surgery on an achilles can exceed $20,000. And if he didn't have medical insurance, this could easily be a huge problem. It's possible the guy could have a valid case. They want contestents to rush down the aisle so the show doesn't lag, and this could also be a factor.

End result is he may have a valid case and odds are CBS will settle to avoid the bad publicity.
