Criminal Probe Over SJP-Related Break-In

Sarah Jessica ParkerThis one qualifies as shocking ... two police chiefs in the area where Sarah Jessica Parker's surrogate mother lives are under investigation -- for allegedly concocting a plan to break into the surrogate's home to get info for a tabloid.

Martins Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter and Bridgeport Police Dept. Chief Chad DoJack allegedly were behind a plan to burglarize the surrogate's home in Martins Ferry, Ohio and then sell info to a tabloid reporter -- this according to WTRF TV.

We're told investigators have seized several computers. As for the operating theory -- investigators believe the culprits were trying to get photos from inside the house to show the living conditions.

It appears there really was a break-in a few weeks ago.

UPDATE: Police Chief Barry Carpenter told WTOV: "I'm 100% innocent in this and my department is as well."

17. Let me first say I am sorry for the victims involved. But, come on here, Martins Ferry and Bridgeport are The Armpit of Ohio! Does something like this happening really surprise anyone? There is just a basic lack of civility down there on the river. Why wouldnt they have the surrogate somewhere nicer?

19. I live in Martins Ferry, OH, and I can tell you first hand that these cops are crooked. So many allegations and true stories about Dojack and Carpenter. I'm not sure if many non-locals know this, but Chad Dojack tased an elderly man for urinating in the Martins Ferry Park a few years back. The elderly man had alzheimer's and had no clue what he was doing. A close friend to the family was walking the dog and witnessed the whole thing. Also heard Dojack say "I'll be you'll come next time want you motherf***er." So I don't put anything past these two jackasses. Dojack got away with that incident, but I don't know how Carpenter and Dojack are going to escape this one. I don't put it past these two idiots. Get 'em both out of there. Martins Ferry Police Department and Bridgeport Police Department are all corrupt. They think because these are small rinky dink towns that they can do whatever they damn well please. It's about time they were stopped.

21. okay so i'm from this "small dinky town". not all cops are like that, but i know dojack, he's a *donkey*. but sarah picked this lady because this lady had been through a lot in her life. she also thought "oh a small town, no one should bother her here." WRONG! of course, this stuff can put where we live on the map, bad idea sarah. i talked to the lady personally, i like her, shes so nice, she loves having babys for other people, shes very very very sweet. i've talked to some of the people that would know the story better than anyone else and its amazing. these two should go to jail soon id say, within the next week i betlieve they said.
