Customers: KFC Giveaway Clucked Up Our Lives

KFCHell hath no fury like a chicken lover scorned -- as you'll see in this lawsuit filed by people who are pissed over KFC's free chicken giveaway.

James Asanuma just filed the suit on behalf of KFC fans everywhere, saying the chain's May giveaway was nothing short of a scam to deceive its customers into spending more dough.

The lawsuit, filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, says KFC promised everyone "2 pieces of grilled chicken, two individual sides and a biscuit" -- but the promotion, which was promoted on the "Oprah Winfrey Show," turned out to be so popular they couldn't meet the demand.

And that's when the biscuit hit the fan.

The suit says that because KFC couldn't dish out the food as promised, they were forced to give vouchers for free food in the future.

The suit says this "bait and switch" caused customers to incur "travel costs, paper and printing costs, postage, the money they spent on other food items at KFC on visits when they had intended to redeem the Coupon ... and the loss of the value of the promised Meal."

James is suing KFC, because he's hungry for a little payback.

19. Ugh, this suit is absurd. However, Eric this is nothing like the McDonald's lawsuit - you clearly only know what comedians said about it and not the actual case which involved skin grafts of her "lady parts." That being said, the lawyer who filed this case and the people involved with the Miley case should be rounded up and sent before the Bar Association for misuse of the justice system and filing frivolous claims. Then, perhaps we can all get together and sue them for pissing the rest of the world off....seems fair.

26. Ladies and Gentlemen:

Observe why our court systems can't litigate important matters in a more expeditious fashion. This is what we in the legal community refer to as "frivolous litigation."

I sincerely hope that the judge in this case not only throws out this lawsuit for being meritless, but I also hope he or she makes the Plaintiff in this case pay KFC's legal fees. Nowhere is it implied in a coupon for free anything that the coupon never expires. Everything has an expiration date and, in this case, KFC would quite possibly print a disclaimer stating that there are participating KFC locations that will honor the coupon while others do not participate and will not acknowledge the coupon. Each location buys and cooks so much food per day. They are not going to giveaway more food than they would sell. That's absurd.

What disgusts me most about this free giveaway is that the people who are truly hungry and can really use a free meal, some kindness and some humanity will be overlooked because of all of the people who took their lunch hour to stand in line to get something for free that they could've paid for.
