16. I thought Most kids want a Mother and Father, isnt she divorced again? she is not providing a full home with mother and father. she is an entertainer who is constantly touring. Just how much attention can she give these children. Shes not there for her own children. These entertainer want their cake and eat it too.
Next thing she will be back on tour and the kid will be without Parents A gain. Madonna is about as much a mother as Smokey the Bear. Kids will probably grow up disfuntional just like Chasity or Chaz...Chers daughter turned son. I wedger to say as long as Madonna is rolling around on some stage floor wearing clothes like shes a teenager. she has little time to devote to any kids much less adopted ones from aother country. she needs to get over herself.its just a publicty stunt just Like Joan Crawford did, to keep her name in the press.

17. No, a wave of the wand won't do it. It could take months, maybe longer, to acclimate to her new surroundings. Leave her alone, give her space. Mercy is a young child and never asked to be in this tug of war. Let her be.

20. Whales Tail, what does Detroit have to do with it??? I agree with the thought that there are so many Children here in the U.S. that could use a helping hand, but don't just zero in on Detroit, it's all over this country! Just do the best you can and maybe do a little donation to a charity that is here in the USA that helps kids, that's all I can do and it makes me feel alittle better.

22. Is Madonna the best thing for Mercy??? I don't know, she'll have a better life (financially). I don't know if Madonna would be able to give the little girl the love she's been longing for. I don't know why, but I truly believe Angelina Jolie is a great Mom to her adopted kids and her biological kids. Madonna just doesn't seems like the nuturing type. I just can't forget all the black leather, whips and chains!!

23. Why is she adopting anyway? This is one more kid to be dumped with the nanny....and so many other couples have to wait for years to adopt. Silly celebs, silly justice system. Too bad the're corruptible :(

24. I am so sick of hearing people say "Why don't you adopt kids from the U.S.? There are lots of American kids up for adoption."

While it is true that there are a lot of kids in the US that need good adoptive homes, no one has the right to judge where you adopt your child from. Sure, there are American kids out there in foster care, but those kids are (for the most part) being taken care of. By that, I mean our government ensures that their basic needs are being met - they have shelter over their heads, a bed to sleep in, clothes on their backs, food in their bellies, medical care they need, and requires them to attend school.

In contrast, Malawian children, most of whom are orphaned by 3 years of age by parents who have died of HIV-AIDS, do not have their basic needs met. They suffer on a greater scale than parentless kids from the US. Many orphaned African children do NOT have shelter over their heads, a bed to sleep in, clothes on their backs, food in their bellies, medical care they need, and are by law not required to attend school. In addition, they battle things that kids in the US would never think of having to deal with - unclean drinking water, famines, droughts, Malaria outbreaks, and many many more things.

Next time you think about criticizing someone for adoption a child from a poverty-stricken third-world country, think again. Even if Madonna is out on tour or working, what is the difference between her and a "normal" mom whose work requires her to travel? So even if she's not home 24/7, she may have saved this child's life by providing her the opportunity for a longer and higher quality of life.

25. It sets a very dangerous precedent if a person can go into a country and use money to go above the law to get what they want. And yes, Mercy will have a much more privileged life now that she is joining Madonna's family but what about the Malawian children left behind. Rather than take 1 child away from the poverty, why not strive to take the poverty away from all of the children.

Angie Joli doesn't treat her adoptive kids like puppies!! shes a good mom and she adopts legally. she also doesn't dress all high class when she leaves to adopt and then changes her clothes when she gets to another country like Madonna does. Madonna is all about her looks . shes FAKE. aNGIE CAN GO OUT without make-up and she doesn't have TO PUT AN ACT ON WHEN IT COMES TO HER CLOTHES. MADONNA IS ONE FAKE BITCH !

28. That girl is definitly adorable. I hope Madonna stays out of her life and lets the nannies be mommy. She'll have a chance of growing up sane. Mercy is paying a price for all the fortune she'll be part of by ocassionally seeing madonna. That old woman is definitly disturbed.

But I'm trying to decide - is money more important in life than being raised in a comfortable, secure environment where you will feel like you fit in??DIdn't this child have a father in Africa??Couldn't he have given her something Madonna couldn't - genuine natural paternal love - once he got the finances??I see Angelina's little African girl and her hair is always a mess, meaning I know she's not exposed to any other black people. I don't want to sound racist - but I'm just wondering if money can take the place of love and being surrounded by your own culture??
