Daryl Hannah Faces Off with Police

Daryl Hannah has a smooth, flawless, gorgeous face that can stop traffic -- and today she got arrested for just that.

Daryl Hannah

The 48-year-old "Clan of the Cave Bear" star, a NASA scientist and their ragtag group of protesters were arrested in West Virginia after blocking off a road leading to a coal processing plant in Raleigh County. Hannah's crew was protesting mountaintop removal mining -- a type of mining criticized for allegedly harming the environment.

30 were arrested in total and booked on misdemeanor charges of obstruction and impeding traffic.

31. She is so desperate for attention. She came all the way to WV to be seen. Coal keeps the lights on people. All the holly whores need to stay in LA where the freak show is. Keep the freaks out of my state.

33. "Mountaintop removal is a mining technique designed, from the very start, to take the labor force out of the mining operation. What used to take hundreds of miners employed for decades, now takes a half dozen heavy equipment operators and blasting technicians a couple of years. According to the bureau of labor statistics, in the early 1950’s there were between 125,000 and 145,000 miners employed in West Virginia; in 2004 there were just over 16,000. During that time, coal production has increased. This decline in the workforce continues today. Draglines and other advances in technology resulted in a 29% decline in mining jobs during 1987 and 1997, while coal production rose 32 percent during the same period."

MOUNTAINTOP REMOVAL CAUSES JOB LOSS.

Kim, you are a very stupid person. Educate yourself.

37. Kim, Daryl Hannah and the others are protesting mountaintop removal, not coal mining. Coal mining preserves the mountains, mountaintop removal destroys them. Mountaintop removal requires far fewer workers than coal mining.

40. Bravo Darryl Hannah! There should be more brave people out there like her, Jackson Browne and John Quigley (who
saved the tree out here in Santa Clarita! It's too bad there so many uniformed idiots that happen to read TMZ.
Maybe I shouldn't read it myself!

41. Mountaintop removal is killing the environment far more than coal mining. At least coal mining preserves the mountains. I'll agree it's a very dangerous job. But mountaintop removal absolutely destroys the land and pollutes the water. It's a horrendous practice and I can hardly believe it's allowed.

42. Hey, someone asked what happened to her face. Answer: combination of camera lens distortion and face lighting. The photo is likely a wide-angle lens where things in the middle of the photo are pushed away (shrink) and things near the camera frame edge appear larger......so the effect is a distortion of proportions. If that isn't good enough of an explanation, listen to further clues in the song about the girl with kalaidescope eyes.

43. GO GIRL GO!!! I'm from Kentucky.. we call this 'strip' mining since they essentially strip away whatever gets in the way of the coal. they ALL said they'd 'reclaim' the land..meaning put it back the way it was...but of course that never happened...it's very sad..and it makes for mudslides and things of that nature. Keep on protesting!! and Thanks, Daryl!

45. Good Lord. What has this woman done to her face? Why in the world can't these women just face getting older gracefully, instead of ruining their looks altogether. She looks like that crazy Madam puppet! Really not a good look!
