Ed McMahon Dies

Ed McMahon Ed McMahon has passed away at 86.

He died at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in California this morning. McMahon was fighting a multitude of health problems, including cancer.

Someone connected with the family told us, "Ed was at peace because he got his business taken care of. He settled his lawsuit with Cedars and with the settlement he was able to take care of his family."

He is best known as Johnny Carson's sidekick on "The Tonight Show" and for his infamous catchphrase, "Heeeeeeeeeeere's Johnny!"

McMahon also hosted "Star Search" and "TV Bloopers And Practical Jokes" with Dick Clark.

He was a colonel in the United States Marines and a fighter pilot and served during the late 1940s and 1950s.

32. Ed McMahon was a true professional. Probably the best example of that was the infamous Alpo dog commercial that Johnny Carson was doing on the Tonight Show, when the dog that was supposed to come on and eat the Alpo, wasn't being cooperative. So, all of a sudden, Ed McMahon comes crawling in on all four's, pretends to eat the dog food from the bowl, and then, licks Johnny's leg, and "snuggles" up to him as a dog probably would. It was great live TV, and probably made for a better Alpo commercial than if the real dog had shown up, as it got played over and over again. I'll also always remember Ed's famous yell, "Hoooo"! Great Guy...

43. In the last couple of years before he died, all he did was sue anyone he could in order to get money. I think that is absolutely pathetic. I hope the credit card companies come in and take every penny away from his "grieving widow" that we are supposed to feel sorry for because she now has to shop at Target.
