Ed McMahon Dies

Ed McMahon Ed McMahon has passed away at 86.

He died at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in California this morning. McMahon was fighting a multitude of health problems, including cancer.

Someone connected with the family told us, "Ed was at peace because he got his business taken care of. He settled his lawsuit with Cedars and with the settlement he was able to take care of his family."

He is best known as Johnny Carson's sidekick on "The Tonight Show" and for his infamous catchphrase, "Heeeeeeeeeeere's Johnny!"

McMahon also hosted "Star Search" and "TV Bloopers And Practical Jokes" with Dick Clark.

He was a colonel in the United States Marines and a fighter pilot and served during the late 1940s and 1950s.

48. HE LIVED A GOOD LIFE AND ENTERTAINED ALL OF US WHO WATCHED THE SHOW. he will be missed.

the owner of the mansion where he fell and settled the lawsuit a little while back really made a good gesture to settle that claim. he gave Ed peace of mind for his family while being at the hospital. not too many people in hollywood willing to look the other way and settle out of court.

51. He was the quintessential yes-man side-kick and he set a good example for others in that role to follow. Everyone wants to be number one but not everyone can be. Ed was a great number two. He was loyal to Johnny, kept the spotlight on Johnny and was the consummate foil to Johnny. He was the town crier with the single most exciting line every night: "And now, heeeeeeeeerrrre's JOHNNY!"

54. Now, the crediors can go after his gold-digging, embezzling wife! The poor man was really taken to the cleaners by her. She took out loans on his property, then stashed the money. It is sad that this man had to worry about money in the last years of his life. Maybe he would have lived longer if he hadn't had the stress she caused.
