Lil Wayne -- Arresting Cops were Dirty Dogs

Lil Wayne's lawyer went to court today ... ready to pull the trigger on the "bad dog" defense!

Lil Wayne: Click to launch

Weezy was busted in January 2008 at a border checkpoint in Arizona, where authorities found cocaine, ecstasy and a handgun on his tour bus. Wayne's lawyer told the judge he thinks the drug-sniffing dogs used in the bust may not have been reliable because they weren't adequately trained.

Why, you ask, does that matter? Well Mr. Wayne's lawyer seems to think if the dogs weren't reliable, the resulting search was illegal and the drugs shouldn't be used as evidence. Tough argument -- the dogs found coke.

The judge has yet to rule on whether Wayne's lawyer can probe into how the dogs were trained.

20. "the resulting search was illegal and the drugs shouldn't be used as evidence. Tough argument -- the dogs found coke."

Did they stop teaching Civics , The Constituion, and the concept of the USA in school? Apparently TMZ and other posters, like #4 for starters, don't believe in the freedom and individual liberty Americans are supposed to enjoy.

Ideas like The Bil of Rights, Rule of Law, are not "technicalities." If the search is illegal it should not matter what is recovered. This is not to simply protect "thugs" but regular folks who should feel secure in their person and property and not threatened by what amounts to an invading army declaring war on its own citizens.

Yesterday I read an article about a 70 year old couple who were raided by police serving a drug warrant. The problem was the WRONG house. This is not a isolated mistake. It happens every day, as has been documented by numerous publications and think tanks. Police routinely break in houses and assault or kill people after serving warrants on the wrong address.

Y cant kops rede adresis? I don't know.

Now after the cops broke in the wrong house and beat up some 70 year old ( or shot and killed 92 year old Kathryn Johnson, shot mayor Calvos dogs as they were running away, and so many other actual incidents of misconduct and incompetence), what if they found a joint or a small baggie of pot?

Do you think THAT justifies an illegal search as well as B&E, assault, etc?

Cops can't just go around acting above the law and terrorizing people and letting recovered "evidence" being the ends justifying the means.

If you think that's a "technicality" and you support this type of reckless behavior by law enforcement ( whether it's on "bad" guys or "good" guys), if you oppose the Bill of Rights, if you oppose the concept of individual freedom,

then YOU are an anti-American scumbag. Far worse than any drug using thug.

21. SOrry that TMZ is not educated about this defense, laughable since Harvey is a lawyer. The defense goes like this, most drug dogs have a success rate of 58-65, the rest are false positives. Since the probable cause to do the search in the first place was most likely becasue they walked the dog around the tour bus and he alerted, they therefore said they had the right to search the bus. Well wrong, according to past ruling and or precedence set in state courts all the way to the supreme court. A dog who success rate is at 60 percent , means 40 percent of he time, the cops are searching wrongly based on the dogs search result history. This is a violation of your privacy rights. If every 2 times the dog is wrong, cops should not be allowed to violate someone rights based on this awful average, 60 percent equals failure anyway you slice it. Lil Wayne will most likely win his case with this defense. The constitution gives us a right to privacy, cops haved used the advancement of the drug sniffing k9 to get around our natural righ to privacy....Are you really surprised!!! Harvey is you need some law lessons, drop me an email.

25. the arizona border check point is there to find smuglers. in this case they stopped this lavish tour bus and just like a greyhound bus, they can walk inside and look around. the dogs are trained to find drugs, once they find them without opening anything , simply by sitting and barking that is probable cause to search the bag/drawer/shoe box, etc.
arizona has some tough judges regarding drug charges.
This is a no win situation, he is going to go through the process of trial and be sentenced to jail in the end.
i would begin ASAP spending time in arizona and doing fund raisers for various organizations. Little Wayne, please!!!!!!!! before you step into that court room, change your hair style and wear a suit and no bling..... if you walk in the court room like your going to give a concert, its going to make things harder on the case/ in my opinion.....
and by doing some type of fund raisers for the community, your getting some jail time points..... maybe the judge will be easy on you.

28. #7 . . . I know I agree the Lil thing is very played out. I know you say step up and be a man but what's your opinion on police officers? I've seen videos on the internet where police illegally search a van. Before they do it they say their dog detected drugs on the vehicle but in fact the video shows the officer walking around the vehicle several times and the german shephard hardly even looked at the vehicle and didn't signal anything. #7, you don't think that police are kind of fame whores? what do you think??

30. Lil Wayne is full of sh*t for having his lawyer say stupid things like that. People like Lil Wayne are responsible for thousands of deaths in Mexico drug war. No demand, no supply, no murders in Mexico.
