242. For all you people crowing about "free speech" and whatnot...remember, this DID NOT HAPPEN ON US SOIL. Perez is NOT PROTECTED FROM US FREE SPEECH LAWS. Our laws in Canada are NOT THE SAME AS US LAWS. Section 319 of Bill C-250 states "If it can be shown that the speech was so abusive that it was likely to incite listeners or readers into violent action against an identifiable group, and if the the speech was made in a public place, then a person could be convicted." Perez is LUCKY he was not charged with a hate crime...yet. When the evidence has been reviewed, he may still be charged if what he said was found to have incited the violence committed by the BEP's manager.

I'm not defending EITHER person's actions in this case, I really couldn't care less. I'm just annoyed by people commenting about "free speech this" and "free speech that". Sorry people, your laws don't follow you to other countries. If it happens outside of US soil, your laws don't apply. I wouldn't be surprised if a civil case is thrown out of a US-based court. He may well have to file any civil action through the Canadian courts, and our courts don't take too kindly to frivolous lawsuits like this one. So, shut up with your free speech junk, it doesn't apply in this case.

Perez seems ot think he can say anything he he wants about anyone no mastter how much it hurts them or their career, he is not Hedda Hopper although he seems to think he has that kind of power. 250. Perez is a two-faced, back-stabbing emotional blackmailer. Unless the stars buddy up to him, he rides them relentlessly with unfounded sexual accusations trying to defame them and damage their carreers. Then after they befriend him, he lets off and says they are nice. (i.e. Josh Groban).

I hope Canada does prosecute him for his slurs. The man is an embarassment to the human race. His tongue/pen is cruel, vicious and just downright dumb - but then again, we are talking about Perez. This is just a publicity stunt to him to get his 15 minutes of fame. Give it to him for Heaven's sake and move on to more worthy news and people!
