Lambert's Old Label -- We Got It in Writing!

Adam Lambert claims the album he recorded pre-"Idol" was nothing more than him singing someone else's songs -- but that just isn't true.

We've obtained an internal memo from two divisions of Adam's old label, which clearly lists Lambert as the co-writer on nine of the 11 tracks on the album.

Lambert's new handlers released a statement on his behalf this week condemning the album, which said: "I was hired as a studio singer to lend my vocals to tracks written by someone else ... I was broke at the time and this was my chance to make a few bucks."

Ironically -- or not -- one of the tracks Lambert co-wrote is called "15 Minutes of Fame."

16. Where, on the document you have, does it say that Mr. Lambert co-wrote "Want"? Nowhere! His official statement from 19E/RCA was regarding the release of "Want" by Hi-Fi, and he said he didn't write that song. He has never said he didn't co-write any songs. Adam's fans already know about his old songs that he did co-write. No NEW news here. So, what, exactly, is the point of this article?

We love you, Mr. Lambert, and are patiently waiting for your siiiiiiick new album from RCA. May your light shine on...

17. So Hi Fi Records just finalized the tracks for that new/old album they've been trumpeting about? I don't for the life of me understand why they chose to lead off with that dreck "Want" which thankfully neither Monte or Adam Lambert had a hand in writing, when apparently, HiFi was sitting on a bunch of really good songs... Most of those songs on that list are freely available on YouTube since forever by the way. If Hi-Fi had come out immediately and said those were the songs in the album, I don't think the fans would have reacted so angrily and like staged a boycott.

The funny thing is I'm pretty excited about getting my hands on this new/old album after all ...

18. What's the big deal? And what do those percentages supposedly represent? And how do we know this document is authentic? And why is this company pushing this thing down our throats? Why are they basically attacking Mr. Lambert? They must really be desparate to sell this stuff. The only thing I read from Adam was obviously a piece written by his 19 folks. Did we think this talented guy hadn't done anything until he auditioned for AI? Just release the music and be done with it! If people want it, they will buy it. If not, they won't. I thought "Want" was a piece of trash except for Adam's remarkable voice. Production was amaturish and flawed. I'll decide on the others when I hear them, but I choose not to add "Want" to my collection, but that's my personal decision.

19. Are they aware that all but maybe two or three of these are available already online?

20. Adam was asked about the song WANT which he did not write. At the point the statement was released HiFi had not released the songs on the album. If the songs shown above are actually the songs, Adam had them on his My Space page and even performed Crawl Thru Fire at the Zodiak. Of course, he would never say he didn't write these songs. But it doesn't change the central issue: did he feel these songs were ready for release on an album. I think the fact that he continued to work with another producer on Pop Goes the Camera and Kiss and Tell gives us the answer. Had he been satisified with the results of his initial recordings he would not have spent the time reworking the songs as he did. The problem with this release is that Adam has not been involved in the creative end of the production of these songs as an album. Anytime something is done without the cooperation of the artist it can not represent the artist soul and personality and afterall isn't that essentially what you buy when you purchase a work of art.

22. You know, Monte Pittman has ties to Madonna. IF Hi/Fi had the writes to these Monte/Adam songs....that are ROCK songs, by the way --- why lead with the crappy demo "WANT?" That doesn't make sense. Adam has never denied these other songs...he was shopping for a deal when AI came along. Everyone knows an AI contestant can't have a current contract, so he gave up any contract he might have had to be on the show.

It just doesn't add up. And, the bottom line is, Hi-Fi is looking to bottom feed off of Adam's success on AI. They are pissed that 99% of the reviews at iTunes for "Want" are supportive of ADAM, but NOT supportive of the song or of Hi-Fi. Adam's fans organized a boycott....and Hi-Fi isn't making the money they anticipated.

24. I hardly think that really, really cheap and recently dated memo constitutes proof that Adam Lambert or 19E are lying about the fact that this so-called record is representative of Lambert or at all constitutes something that Lambert had a hand in creating. A lot of those songs are from his time with the band Citizen Vein or from his MySpace page, most of his fans have already heard the songs, and isn't it odd that the one song that HiFi Records has released is the song Adam had no part in creating and that the name of the record--On With the Show--is the other song Adam had no part in creating? It's just a cheap ploy by HiFi to make money off of old recordings of Adam's now that Adam is a well-known name. How in the world can HiFi claim that the album is truly an Adam Lambert record when they've cobbled together songs he sang with a band, from his MySpace and things he sang as a studio singer? They're just out to make a cheap buck.

25. The old company is so desperate and annoying.I just wait for the rca album this fall.

26. Adam was probably referring to "Want", which was a demo track that used to be featured on the record label's website under the name "December" and was sung by someone else. This music however...a few of these tracks were on his myspace, and he has songwriting credits for them. I don't see how HI-FI would have all legal rights to release this music, unless they were demo tracks he shipped around, similar to what happened with Christina Aguilera and Leona Lewis? I wonder if RCA/19 will do something now...

28. @No.17. Kiril writes music for theatre and lives in California and has several of Adams friends on his myspace site including Adam. I don't see any of those things as a coincidence.

29. It's already public knowledge that Adam wrote or co-wrote Crawl Through Fire, Kiss and Tell, and Pop Goes the Camera. They were on his myspace as his songs and there are videos of him performing them on youtube. I, and most of his other fans, already have copies of those songs, plus a few others that he recorded/performed with Monte Pittman. This is not news. I'm wondering if Adam even knew what was being released on this album because he wouldn't disown these songs seeing as he's already credited for them online. And he even talked about working with Monte Pittman in Rolling Stone. Something is really strange here. Especially releasing Want first, as it is nothing like the other songs listed here.

30. So @No.17..wonder why there's a pic of Adam and may of Adams friends and acquaintances including Wilshire records on Kirils Myspace site then?
Kiril writes music for theatre, dabbles in electronica and lives in California don't think there's any coincidence there.
