Lambert's Old Label -- We Got It in Writing!

Adam Lambert claims the album he recorded pre-"Idol" was nothing more than him singing someone else's songs -- but that just isn't true.

We've obtained an internal memo from two divisions of Adam's old label, which clearly lists Lambert as the co-writer on nine of the 11 tracks on the album.

Lambert's new handlers released a statement on his behalf this week condemning the album, which said: "I was hired as a studio singer to lend my vocals to tracks written by someone else ... I was broke at the time and this was my chance to make a few bucks."

Ironically -- or not -- one of the tracks Lambert co-wrote is called "15 Minutes of Fame."

31. I'm tired of Lambert. This dude hasn't released an album, and we're talking about him like he is the 2nd coming. So he can sing other peoples songs, lets see what kind off music he can create and sing. Till he releases an album, he is just another karaoke singer to me.

32. This guy is already so full of himslef, and he's steadily turning into a selfish "artist". Man, you're already 28, don't behave like a kid. You have a nice voice and quite a stage presence (although you are .. erm.. fat?) but there are tons like you around, so stop being this full of yourself, Lambert. You are not that great. Otherwise you wouldn't have need American Idol to come out. They would have made you a big star WAY before it, considering how long you've been into the business, struggling to emerge. I don't see anything real about this guy. I like when he sings, but I just see he's quite a fake person, trying to build up an image of himself ready to sell TOO hard.
I don't like this. I won't ever.

33. I think that the TMZ people are just out to get Adam. We have no proof that those documents are authentic. Hi-FI are just trying to profit off of Adam's fame and TMZ seems only to happy to try to bring down Adam.

RCA and 19 are going to produce quality albums with Adam and that is all, we, as fans care about. He was not under a current contract at the time of Idol and that is the important thing. Somebody else said, in the comments section, that he knows for a fact that song #4 was not 50% written by Adam because he knows the person who supposedly "Co-wrote" the song with Adam. The implication is that if #4 is incorrect who's to say that Adam wrote or cowrote any of them?

The bottom line is that here in 2009, Adam is represented by 19 and RCA and that will be the albums I will buy. Not something put out to try to make a quick buck off of Adam's fame.

34. To the person that wrote that Kiril Dzajkovski couldn't possibly have co-written a song with Adam Lambert....check ASCAP and you'll see that they are listed as co-writers of the song "Kiss and Tell", which means it's true. Doesn't mean they necessarily were in the same room. For example, Kiril could have written the music and Adam added lyrics later. But it does mean they both contributed to writing the song. (For those who don't know, ASCAP is one of 3 performing rights organizations in the US. They deal with distributing royalties and that sort of thing. )

35. Just because somebody writes a memo does not mean that it is so. Question: If Adam co-wrote all these songs, why is he not listed as co-writer on ascap.com, repertoire.bmi.com and sesac.com
Did HiFi/Wilshire screw him out of co-writer credit back then, or are they telling us a bunch of lies now?
Adam is credited with performing and co-writing the following 5 songs only (these are the Citizen Vein songs):
1. CRAWL THRU FIRE
(Title Code: 333655791)
2. I GOT THIS
(Title Code: 393433131)
3. KISS AND TELL
(Title Code: 410827397)
4. POP GOES THE CAMERA
(Title Code: 462661996)
5. SACRIFICE
(Title Code: 495998571)

Also, why do you refer to his "former label"? HiFi/Wilshire need to show me proof that they ever signed him. Just flapping your gums does not make it so. They did not sign him but let's assume they had done so, then why did they not release any of his recordings before now? Actually the question should be, why don't they have any recordings of him because all they are releasing are old demos. A demo is not a record. An unknown makes the demo. and then the demo is shopped around in hopes of finding an artist to make a recording of the demo.
First HiFi/Wilshire asserted that Want was recorded in 2007/08 - maybe so, but not by Adam but by Dublyn Jones. When this was unmasked as a lie they said that the album is the result of an earlier 3 year working relationsship - note the wording. They want you to jump to the conclusion that they were Adam's former label. Again, if that were true, why did you sit on this sfuff for all these years? So inept that you don't recognize the talent if it stands before you? Or was Adam nothing more than a hired demo singer who gets paid a flat fee and does not have any artistic control whatsoever and who does not have any rights to the songs and consequently no right to royalties.
Again, if Adam indeed co-wrote all these songs, WHY DID YOU CHEAT HIM OUT OF CO-WRITER CREDIT? EITHER YOU CHEATED HIM THEN, OR YOU ARE MAKING UP A BUNCH OF LIES NOW.

Say hello to Clay.
You both have something in common.

37. Rob G- As much as I'm on Adam's side on this one, remember that the online database for ASCAP is not complete. That is, just because a song does not appear on the online data base does *not* mean that it isn't registered with them and you can't tell who the writers are without calling them. If you go to the ACE FAQ page, you'll see that the online database currently only consists of songs that have come up in their "domestic performance survey". So, as I understand it, if a song has not been performed live it will not currently show up in the database. This means that there very well could be other songs written or co-written by Adam Lambert that do not show up in the database search right now, in addition to the 5 you mentioned that do show up.

38. The memo is dated YESTERDAY. It proves nothing. The label just leaked this to TMZ to strengthen their story that Lambert co-wrote the songs. I choose to believe that Lambert is telling the truth about this, because I have no reason not to. A memo dated from 2007-2008 that attributes those songs to Lambert might convince me. But not this. As far as I'm concerned, ADAM DID NOT WRITE THESE SONGS.

39. Big deal! Mountain out of a molehill. What's the purpose? Discredit, exploitation? Making something out of nothing for your own gain? Typical lawyer mentality. Fish stinks from the head down.

40. HIFi are snakes. Adam's statement was regarding "Want" which as you can see by the docs was NOT WRITTEN BY HIM. We all knew he wrote most of the other songs listed, and also recorded demos as Citizen Vein. He never denied that. I don't understand how HI FI got those demos, but whatever. Adam is not lying, he doesn't do that. Maybe Adam signed his rights away to Monte, and who cares anyway.

Why on EARTH!!! would HIFI release Want and the Adam/Monte songs on the same album?!?!?! They are not at all similar, it's just weird.

The songs Adam co-wrote are rock and dance, nowhere near the schmaltz filled garbage of Want. If someone tried to credit me with that piece of crap I'd be pissed as hell.

Anyway, won't buy. Will wait for the free downloads to surface (unless Adam tells us differently).

41. @enough already / meagan-lambert - You have issues. Please go solve them. Thanks.

As for HiFi / Wilshire, they are rabid mad that they are seeing their profit from Adam's notoriety slipping through their fingers due to Adam's dismissive response and Adam's fans allegience to him and what he gives his blessing to. As for me, I'll stick with Adam's magazine covers and articles, 19 Entertainment/Freemantle Media/AI endorsed merchandise, and his current official recordings on iTunes and iTunes performance videos. That and the concert this summer should be enough to hold me off until this Fall so that I can hear what his music really sounds like!!! Pure Awesomeness I'm sure!!!

43. Oh, and also... if an internal memo dated Tuesday this week is what passes for legal documentation with TMZ, then you basically suck as a company.

45. Why are they releasing a document that only proves Lambert's point? He said he didn't write that piece of crap Want and according to the document he didn't. The other stuff's been available on YouTube for forever. Check it out if you don't believe me. Most fans already have this stuff. Why in gods name would we pay for it again when most of us already have it for free? That said, it's pretty good, not like Want at all. Heckler is trying to make a buck over songs Lambert did years ago. Like Adam or not, this entire fiasco is disgusting.
