Lambert's Old Label -- We Got It in Writing!

Adam Lambert claims the album he recorded pre-"Idol" was nothing more than him singing someone else's songs -- but that just isn't true.

We've obtained an internal memo from two divisions of Adam's old label, which clearly lists Lambert as the co-writer on nine of the 11 tracks on the album.

Lambert's new handlers released a statement on his behalf this week condemning the album, which said: "I was hired as a studio singer to lend my vocals to tracks written by someone else ... I was broke at the time and this was my chance to make a few bucks."

Ironically -- or not -- one of the tracks Lambert co-wrote is called "15 Minutes of Fame."

47. @Chrissie

What has Adam done to make you think he is full of himself?! He is just rehearsing for the Idols Tour and co-writing material for his album. What is selfish about that? It's not his fault that Hi Fi Recordings is trying to make money off his old recordings and the media is making a big deal about it.

48. Kiss and Tell, Crawl Thru Fire and Want are really different kinds of songs. It proves that HiFi is just stringing together a bunch of songs to get an Album out. If HiFi was smart they would have marketed it as Adam's early work. This does not represent in any way the album Adam is currently working on.

49. Absolutely fascinating - the ONLY 2 songs on that entire list that have absolutely 100% NOTHING to do with Adam, (except his contribution as a hired singer) are 1. "Want", which has been released as "the new Adam single" and 2) "On With the Show" - which is the name of the "new Adam" album.

Mmmmmmmm....... really, really, really sneaky HIFI - my guess is that means you owe Adam nothing! but will profit by the sales and the buzz of this guys amazing talent... whatever you guys are on - shame on you, I don't want any part of it....

50. Well no wonder Hi Fi released Want first, it's starting to make more sense now. It's one of the few that are actually new to people. The rest of this track list is seriously old news, anyone with even a mild interest in Adam who bothered to check him out on youtube has heard most of these already. And considering the lyrics, I'll bet the track "15 Minutes Of Fame" is actually "Pop Goes The Camera" which is one of the most popular of Adam's pre-Idol on youtube.

This is all great material, but a schizophrenic album to say the least, spanning piano power ballad to electro pop to some fairly hard rock. I expect the new stuff to be much much different -- but if they've cleaned up the recordings and production significantly over the versions available for free on the internet then I'd buy the album.

51. TMZ why are you trying to ruin this brilliant young man's singing career? Adam's name listed on a memo dated two days ago is NOT PROOF that he co-wrote those songs - at least not to me. It is simply a memo written by Hi-Fi to try to support their money grubbing scheme to profit from Adam. Adam has not and will never lie to his army of loyal fans. To do so would result in grounding his career before it even takes off. Adam is much much smarter than that. Hi-Fi/Whilshire has misjudged Adam's fans in that they are willing to buy anything with his name on it. We will wait patiently for his recording in the fall which will represent Adam's latest musical growth as an artist and singer not something outdated even though with his usual fabulous vocals. Trying to discredit Adam is not the way to go TMZ.... you lose, not Adam.

53. The guy (or whatever he is) is a lying creep. He lied his way onto a show that supposedly tries to give amateurs a chance. He is a professional entertainer and couldn't make it any other way so he lied. He is repulsive.

54. Anyone can fake a "document". Just look at this one. It's supposed to be letterhead....but has no address. Is Music Publishing Co. trying to be secretive about it??? I doubt it. They can't even fake letterhead well. You can't believe everything you read on the internet ........And PLEEEEEASE! Adam stands to make more on HiFi's crappy Casio production than RCA's who is putting gazillions of dollars into the machine???? If you buy that , well then, have I got a piece of Florida swampland for you.....

55. lambert is lying to save his ass. i do believe hi fi has proof that he was way more involved in the production of this album than he's admitting. he has lied repeatedly, with the help of 19e and american idol. lambert is talented, but is also a famewhore of epic proportions, who has tried used the media and hype like toys, when it suited his purpose.... 19e and american idol are the real slimy ones here, as they had to have known these shady and sketchy details before hand, but saw dollars and controversy and ratings, so lambert sailed through the competition, when he should have been disqualified... he was more a plant than that pacitti chick, imo.

lambert is overexposed right now, and i am one who is tired of hearing his name, and seeing his face. he has done nothing to warrant this exposure, but this scandal shows he may have gotten too big for his britches with the famewhoring, and it's come back to haunt him. he needs to just fess up....

56. To all those still convinced that Adam didn't write the songs listed in this memo (dated 2 days ago) because of his short statement almost a week ago -- I believe that statement referred to the single Want, the only song anyone knew for sure was going to be on the album at that time.

But if this track list is correct, the majority of the rest of these songs really are Adam/Monte collaborations, written both for the hard rock Citizen Vein band they were in and for Adam's electro-pop demo songs he put together. But what's so silly is that this stuff has been available on the internet since we first heard the name Adam Lambert -- this is not new, and of course he had a hand in creating them, they were posted on his myspace, heck he's all over youtube performing these songs at various gigs. Boo to Hi Fi for stirring up unnecessary drama when there didn't need to be any.

57. Er...excuse me did I miss something here? because the memo was written on 23 June by John Titta who is affiliated with HIFI recordings. Duh! wouldnt they try to justify their underhand ways by writing a memo about it. This isnt objective evidence of anything. So dumb

Posted at 7:46AM on Jun 25th 2009 by anja

58. Er...that memo was written 2 days ago by a man who has a financial interest in HIFI recordings . I wouldnt put too much on the veracity of that memo. Great detective work TMZ!

59. @ Gene
Gene, I clearly see how he's full of himself from the way he's behaving with the media, and I mean also while staying on Idol. He's trying to build an image, that's so clear, and honestly it buggers me when I catch that on a supposed artist. On Idol, publishers told Adam not to reveal he's gay, so the voters wouldn't get annoyed AND, more importantly, he would have kept the fuss generated by the question "Is he? Isn't he?", which responds to the golden rule "let them talk, any way they do it". He gained a Rolling Stone cover with that "answer", never forget (well, nowadays The Hills and Crappy Jonas Brothers "grace" Rolling Stone Cover, so why not this guy, after all... at least he can sing). Now publishers tell him to act like he never had business before, while it's so clear somebody doing already musicals and struggling for years to surface isn't exactly a neophyte. I just don't like all this. And I repeat: he thinks he's somekind of WOW singer, but if he were, people would have made him big or at least invest in him way before Idol. He's 28, not 18. The bandwagon of Idol will make him have surely a career. But Idol made him. Not his talent (which does exist, he's a good singer, don't get me wrong. Just not as good as the hype and himself think he is).
I keep reading he already behaves like he has changed the music industry. Nay Nay, baby. You are workin with the best of the best people around, so if you sell well, that's just a natural output. Don't believe all the hype or you'll be long ruined before the party even starts, Lambert. This is a serious advice.

60. o god, whatever. anyone who has anything to do with anyone who has anything to do with madonna is a waste. the madonna infection is like rampant Medusa gonorrhea, infecting anyone who touches or looks at her. adam is basically saying it's ok to buy african babies like it's Hometown Buffet. where's ur principles, adam? this is NOT about the music, it's about the money apparently for you. just like everyone else who craves fame, from sarah palin, all the way down to poor dead jonbenet.
