Emergency Workers Felt Jackson Dead at Scene

Michael Jackson Dead at the sceneWhen EMTs arrived at Michael Jackson's home yesterday, the medics wanted to pronounce him dead on the scene -- but Michael's personal doctor refused to let them "call it" -- this according to sources close to the situation.

When EMTs arrived there was evidence someone had been performing CPR on Michael for "quite some time." There was evidence of Lidocaine -- an old-school drug that can be used to treat disturbances in the heart's rhythm. Medics took over performing CPR but determined Jackson was lifeless -- and wanted to call the coroner to pick up the body.

We're told Jackson was flat-lined when EMTs arrived.

But our sources say M.J.'s doc demanded EMTs continue performing CPR anyway, and demanded that they take Michael to the hospital.

Once they arrived at UCLA, we're told Jackson's doc continued to personally administer CPR -- even though it was clear Jackson was already gone.

61. Sad that Michael was under so much pressure financially that people were willing to try and prop him up long enough to make their money, and now it all blows up in their faces, and we lose a legend.

62. Lidocaine isn't an old school drug. It's a commonly used drug in cardiac arrest patients. The theory behind it is that it will relax the heart enough to get it back into a normal rhythm. Hopefully, they'll find Epinephrine in his system as well, because that's the first drug that Advanced Life Support (paramedics or doctors) will give when they arrive to find a patient unresponsive. The other drug is atropine. If I had been on the scene, I would have given him Narcan, which would have helped stop any opiate drugs in his system. Also makes me wonder if the paramedics even tried to use an AED.

I know I would have been a little star shocked, and stressed with the doctor there trying to tell me what to do. But the paramedics had no responsibility to follow the doctor's orders. They should have called the hospital that they worked with to speak with their online medical direction to find out just what they wanted him to do.

63. Such a shame to be so talented and so self destructive while becoming being just another self indulgent entertainer. This was totally fueled by his parents desire for money and fame. They should be ashamed of themselves for the shameless exploitation of their children particularly MJ.

64. Sounds exactly like Elvis' death scene. Elvis was dead when the EMT's showed up, but his doc insisted they continue to do cpr, etc. all the way to the hospital and at the hospital. Fishy, fishy.....

67. I think every adult in that house should be seen as complicit in this fiasco. I believe Michael was an addict whom hangers on and selfish family members alike basically allowed to perish long before his time for fear of being cast out of his priviledged inner circle. Any real friends Michael had probably cut him off a long time ago so as to avoid watching a "friend" slowly kill himself. This is the same "Family" that started exploiting him at a young age for financial gain.

68. They did TRY and use an AED but since he was "flat lined" it would have said "shock is not advised" "continue CPR". It's only on TV that someone flat lines and they shock them. I'm sure every rib in his poor thin body was broken. Poor thing.

71. Listen Peep's for a minute, if this doctor didn't give Michael exactly what he wanted he would have found another doctor to get just what he wanted. Sorry but there are peep's out there that can't afford to pay for a doctor, but remember this when your rich "you get just what you pay for".

RIP MJ

72. Meg,

Paramedics dont use AEDs, they have the real thing. Would have been useless though because he was in asystole when they arrived. Also narcan bould have been useless. He was already dead when they got there. Only would have been useful had the doctor gave it to him when he stopped breathing

73. Anyone who is familiar with sudden cardiac arrest would/should know that of course he was already dead when emt personnel arrived. That's a given. Less than 6% of anyone who suffers a SCA survives. There is only a 3-5 minute window to save someone who has a SCA. Unfortunately, he was already dead by the time medics arrived and there was nothing that could have been done for him. However, with all his money, and the fact that he had a "live in" cardiologist you would think a defibrillator would have been on hand. If that's the case, then I can only surmise his heart had stopped quite some time (at least 5 minutes) before he was found. Why the dr would "insist" they keep trying makes me think he was in panic mode (scared maybe?) because as a cardiologist he would have known it was too late.

74. He kept doing CPR even at the hospital? I'm no expert in hospital protocol, but wouldn't the doctor(s) in the ER take over when he got there?!
