Billy Mays Was Set to be Taco Bell's Pitchman

billy mays taco bellBilly Mays was about to film a bunch of commercials for Taco Bell -- this according to a radio host who talked to the pitchman a few hours before he died.

Todd "MJ" Schnitt from 93.3 WFLZ in Tampa was interviewing Billy's "Pitchmen" co-star Anthony Sullivan this afternoon, when Todd eerily admitted to speaking with Billy on the phone late last night.

During the call, Todd said Billy had just signed a deal with Taco Bell for a series of infomercial-style adverts that were going to be filmed in August.

Todd also said Billy told him he "hit his head on the overhead luggage compartment" when the US Airways airplane blew its front tires while landing in Tampa yesterday.

32. Doesn't matter the circumstances around his death. We all make mistakes, weather he was or wasn't wearing a seat belt. The man has passed on. My thoughts and prayers with his family and friends at this tough time. He may not have been liked by everyone but he was still a human being, Some of you need to learn a little respect. As far as the audio of the interview with Sullivan, that just made me cry. Hearing a man talk about one of his friends and co-workers that had just passed. You can tell that he is deeply heart by the passing of Billy. RIP Billy

33. I was very upset hearing "Billy Mays" had died. I found out on the internet. I bought Oxy Clean because of Billy Mays. He had a very loud voice which aggravated me alot but I couldn't help but listen to the man.
My heart goes out to Billy Mays Family!
I will always use my Oxy Clean!

40. The second half of that audio clip is simply heartbreaking to hear. Regardless of what this guy did, he was doing his best at it, and since when does selling products on tv make someone a bad person? Don't like infomercials, then don't watch them, no need to be completely heartless about it. Horrible situation all around, RIP Billy ;_;

41. Why did the tires blow out? Whatever the case, US Air is the all time most terrifying airline. They take no responsibility for their lunatic drunk abusive employees even when the cops need to be called. These people have your life in their hands. That's why their first impulse was to try and pin blame on poor Mr. Mays before his body was even cold.

42. It's more likely that he popped up from his seat and hit his head. There's only like a 12 inch clearance from your head to the overhead compartment. What could possibly fall and create such a force unless there were bricks raining down. Sorry Billy...so sad, but you should ALWAYS have a seatbelt on when flying.

44. How does MJ seem to find a way to insert himself into popular stories? He was involved with a Britney Billboard as well as the If You Seek "MJ" song, tried to make a name for himself by asking Miley Cyrus questions that were "off limits", and now he finds himself talking to Billy Mays just before his death. MJ, you are a hack DJ, stop trying to "make it" by stirring up stuff for your radio shows that no one listens to. How many quality radio personalities have to work two programs anyway?

45. He stated on other interviews that luggage fell on him. Plus remember on some plans the overhead door swings down. He is a taller guy... To say he didn't have his seat belt on is kinda stupid.
