FAA -- Billy Wasn't Wearing a Seat Belt on Plane

Billy MaysThe FAA is already deflecting blame for the death of Billy Mays -- claiming the legendary TV pitchman wasn't wearing a seat belt when he took a shot to the head during a rough landing on a flight he was on yesterday.

Here's what we know -- Billy Mays was aboard US Airways Flight 1241 flying from Philadelphia, which landed roughly when the front tire blew out as it touched down. After the flight, Billy told FOX 13 in Tampa that something struck him in the head -- here's Billy's actual quote:

"All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping. It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."

We called the FAA for comment, and a spokesperson told us, "The passenger needs to wear a seat belt during landing and he didn't."

A spokesperson for US Airways did not want to comment until more information comes to light.

Billy posted about it last on his Twitter last night, saying, "Just had a close call landing in Tampa. The tires blew out upon landing. Stuck in the plane on the runway. You can always count on US Air."

361. What proof is there that Billy did not have his seatbelt on? Do they have cameras on every passenger now? I didn't see any quote where he admitted to not having it on. Every flight I've been on everyone including the flight crew is seated during landing. If he was in the first row directly across from a flight attendant, it's the attendant's responsibility to tell him to buckle his seatbelt.

362. just curious about the pinhead who was thankful that the guy was dead and thought it unfortunate that he didn't get strangled....oh that would be peterson32. It just seems that your the 3rd peterson that i know of to deserve the death penalty. we know about Scott, then the crazy cop and now you.. You sound like a lonely lunatic who will probably have to watch his back or at least your own head from something hard falling on it. You've heard of murphy's law haven't you.

363. I have nothing positive to say about a loud mouthed man who hawked positively inferior merchandise. Mays' commercials were on par with some of the worst ads currently running on television; Geico Insurance, Progressive Insurance, Free Credit Report, Viagra, Extenze, Vehix.com, Comcast and any ads featuring that challenged looking, immoral Sham Wow guy. Television is at an all time low in quality. Not only do 9/10ths of all network and cable television shows suck, so do the simpleminded commercials as well.
