286. The following is a quote from a recent article on our blog:

"Lest you be confused about this drug thing, there is little difference between illegal/recreational drugs, and prescription drugs, with the exceptions being the legitimacy of the “entity” which produces them, who gets to prescribe them, and whether politicians benefit. Drugs be drugs.

"Take it from some guys who matured (arguably) during the drugs, sex, and rock and roll years. We know lots of successful doctors, business people, family people, accountants, judges, and pillars of society who once used drugs in many a form and fashion. Fortunately for most of them and for society, they appreciated that drugs might be an interesting pastime, but not a life long journey."

288. Who would have thought this would work as a country song? Michael Jackson's Billie Jean? Dr BLT discovered that it would a couple of days after Michael Jackson passed away, as he was sitting in front of a local Starbucks in Bakersfield, California, strumming his guitar to a country rhythm.

After running the idea by Big House frontman, Monty Byrom, and having Monty sing it back to him, he was even more convinced. So he's taking it to the studio with rising Bakersfield country artist, Penny Marie. Here's a sample

290. Truly sad story to the end of a music and humanitarian legend. You can't fault his friends who tried to intervene with his drug addiction. However, those "yes" men and women who did what was wrong and aided, supplied, and colluded have death on their shoulders; a wake-up call for all friends, relatives, parents, having relationships with those addicted to prescribed or illicit drugs. Help begins in the home and community. And, for those addicted and in dire need of change, encourage them to seek professional help. Richard Fontenot, Los Angeles.
