Dangerous Drug Found in Jackson Home

Michael JacksonSources tell TMZ an extremely dangerous and potent drug used for surgical anesthesia was found at Michael Jackson's house after he died ... and this may well be the drug that killed him.

We're told the drug Propofol was discovered at the residence. The drug is used to put people under anesthesia before surgery. It is an extremely powerful drug that is only available to medical personnel. As one source said, "There is no conceivable way this drug can be properly prescribed for home use."

The drug can only be administered with an IV. Interestingly, Propofol burns and the drug Lidocaine is used to reduce the pain associated with the Propofol injection. As we first reported, Lidocaine was found near Jackson's body.

One of the major side-effects of Propofol is cardiac arrest if it's taken in combination with narcotic painkillers, however, Propofol is so powerful it can stop someone's heart on its own.

A registered nurse has come out and said Jackson begged her for the drug Diprivan -- the brand name for Propofol. She says he needed it for insomnia but she declined to supply it.

Sources say the drug is so inappropriate and reckless for home use, if a doctor facilitated it for Jackson and it caused his death, he or she could be prosecuted for manslaughter.

23. i dont think michael committed suicide.what kind of doctor would prescribe such a dangerous drug and agree to helping him commit suicide? even if it IS michael jackson we're talking about. it's not like he can have you executed. these doctors are in some SERIOUS trouble, i can tell you that.

25. its rather michael jackson killed himself on purpose or someone had to make him take the drug. maybe his personal doctor that was with him when jackson died?

26. Speechless. I am praying that drug was not used in a home. I have used it at work on patients. It's true that it burns and we also use it with Lidocaine, unless it goes into a CVC (central venous catheter). How could ANY doctor use that in a home setting?! And more so...LEAVE the patient unattended??!! There is no way Michael could have injected it himself, since the patients fall asleep within seconds the drug is injected. Our patients get intubated or get oxygen with a mask when ever we use Propofol. This is so sad to read, if true. :( And who ever tries to blame Michael Jackson....please don't. How can it be his fault? I am sure he trusted his doctor as any patient would and should be able to do. I am sure he trusted his doctor knows what he is doing and had his best interest at heart. It is such a tragedy. :(

I agree 100 percent with the above statement. Although something seems fishy about the doctor and the person who phoned the ambulance. The doctor should of known to administer CPR on the floor, and when the 911 operator said "you have to get him on the floor" the person on the phone didnt tell the doctor to get him on the floor, he just said okay or yeah.

28. The Nurse on Larry King, Jackson had a hard time sleeping so he had ask someone to give this Anesthesia medicine to help him sleep, cause he would wakeup in the middle night having a hard time sleeping.

Jackson was not suicidal. He was just trying to get sleep, and needed medication- which was this.

29. I hope that all the Doctor's that gave him drugs go to prison for a long time and get their medical info taken away. It is no different than some one buy booze for a minor. When someone does that, they go to jail. So these people are no different and they should go to jail. It is all wrong. Send them all to jail.
