Dangerous Drug Found in Jackson Home

Michael JacksonSources tell TMZ an extremely dangerous and potent drug used for surgical anesthesia was found at Michael Jackson's house after he died ... and this may well be the drug that killed him.

We're told the drug Propofol was discovered at the residence. The drug is used to put people under anesthesia before surgery. It is an extremely powerful drug that is only available to medical personnel. As one source said, "There is no conceivable way this drug can be properly prescribed for home use."

The drug can only be administered with an IV. Interestingly, Propofol burns and the drug Lidocaine is used to reduce the pain associated with the Propofol injection. As we first reported, Lidocaine was found near Jackson's body.

One of the major side-effects of Propofol is cardiac arrest if it's taken in combination with narcotic painkillers, however, Propofol is so powerful it can stop someone's heart on its own.

A registered nurse has come out and said Jackson begged her for the drug Diprivan -- the brand name for Propofol. She says he needed it for insomnia but she declined to supply it.

Sources say the drug is so inappropriate and reckless for home use, if a doctor facilitated it for Jackson and it caused his death, he or she could be prosecuted for manslaughter.

919. first off duh she could not supply it, she's not a doctor, nurse cantg prescribe meds unless they are a nurse practioner. Secondly this drug isnt just used for surgery, we ( and I mean we as in nurses) use it in RECOVERY TOO particularly in ICU. I just had a patient I was giving this drug to to relax him and make him comfortable and rest while he recovered so that he could be stable, and he was taking it with morphine. Also although this is a power drug it is short acting, we use this drug because even though the person is sedated they are easily awaked. Valium and Ativan are also used in surgiers for sedation, and people take these drugs everyday. Some sedative meds are long acting and you have to wait til it wears off to be aroused, propofol is used because the patient is easily aroused and is suppose to be safer, someone here gave too much, however if the doctor had know he was going into cardiac arrest and it was from this drug he should have known he needed to be intibated ASAP in order for chance of survival, but the doctor didnt. MJ was a hard worker under LOTS AND LOTS OF STRESS, without rest your body doesnt go back to homeostasis, MJ couldnt rest and he wanted was to rest, people do worse things, and yet he looks bad for trying to rest. If you had the world on your back and that stress he had for everything the world has done to him, you'd probably be doing the same thing

920. Michael Jackson did this to himself, although, not alone. MJ was addicted to drugs, especially drugs that knocked him out. He definitely needed help. However, you have to remember that MJ had money & power...so he was able to keep family & friends at bay. Yet, this wealth & power also cost him his life...as he paid any doctor willing to take a bribe for the drugs. Oh, heads will role my friends. Indeed they will.

924. Drug addiction is no laughing matter, and that's an absolute understatement. The horrors of addiction to narcotics have been well-documented on other sites and written about in countless books and magazine articles over the years. Also in recent years, harsh judgments, once the universal norm as far as addiction's many victims are concerned, have mercifully seemed to tone down. Still it seems, however, that people still view those who are addicted to narcotics as "junkies" and "losers." That's a patently untrue characterization. As a recovering substance abuser who became addicted because of a back injury (with the attendant painkiller prescriptions), I can tell you that, at first, narcotics seem to be the answer for everything simply because they make one feel so good and so absolutely pain-free and serene. However, days start to become longer as one worries about the pill bottle running low and what the doctor might say during one's next visit to ask for a refill. Nights become sleepless as the worries about everything from one's job to one's marriage and bills seem to mount more quickly from minute to minute. Eventually, addiction has overtaken one and there's little to be done except seek treatment or immerse one's self even more in the substances. I feel deeply for what Michael Jackson and the millions of other addicts out there went or are still going through. My prayers are with them as they struggle.
