Random Drawing for MJ Memorial Tickets

Michael Jackson Memorial Tickets Michael Jackson's memorial service will be held at two separate venues on Tuesday morning -- the main event will be at the Staples Center and a simulcast will play at the Nokia Theatre.

A lottery has been set up for fans to obtain the free tickets -- and they can sign up for the random drawing on the Staples Center website ... good luck logging on.

17,500 tickets are available for the event -- 11,000 for Staples and 6,500 for Nokia -- which will be divvied out 2 per person. If you are one of the 8,750 people selected, you will then be alerted on Sunday with further instructions.

Oh yeah ... only U.S. residents can apply.

Also, the family wouldn't say if Michael's body would be at the memorial.

34. manda_uk
what are the chances that someone from another country is going to find out they got a ticket on sunday and be able to afford to fly out AT LAST MINUTE to attend a memorial on tuesday.
if you have that much money (and flexiblity w/ your job, etc) than you are very foruntate.. but that is an anomoly.
i'm sure their concern is people ACTUALLY being able to show up.. so those seats remain seated.
as it wouldn't be fair to let people from all over the world get tickets when they have no way to show up..

35. So I can't register cos I'm Dutch. That's cool, I'll just watch it on tv or online.

MJ is my childhood hero and the biggest music genius this world has ever known. There will be no one else like him! RIP

36. All very strange... Randy Phillips refers to MJ as his dear friend. It has been well documented that MJ has had a addiction to painkillers for a number of years - since the child abuse allegations. MJ looked gaunt at his press conference @ the o2 - raising the debate as to weather he could physically do all 50 dates. I have watched the rehearsals clip released by AEG - my opinion is - although he seemed confident and happy and gave his all on that stage no way did he look like he was in prime health, he looked tired - he did not look physically ready for a 50 date stint which started in little over 2 weeks- What i don't get is how come MJ's friend Randy phillips didn't see or think this and earlier? MJ was clearly a man with problems who was still getting over the stress from the last few years. It seemed all a bit rushed - why not get your friend better - train him up for a year and monitor his progress first with doctors, health checks etc before sticking him on stage for his big come back- if you have best interest at heart. i don't think MJ wanted to die (i was personally surprised he made it to 50 - after years of him calling himself peter pan) but i thought it strange at the time - his choice of words 'the final curtain' then muttering something under his breath when he said 'because' ...a self fore-filled prophecy.... either way AEG = $$$$$$ in the long run...and MJ's family and us fans lose a kind soul...
... Rest in peace. x

38. #18, as wonderful as Farrah was, she didn't get the same attention as MJ because she just wast as popular. I dont recall ever seeing anyone have plastic surgery to look like Farrah as many of MJ;s fans. People have committed suicide over MJ's death. he was a GLOBAL ICON, she wasn't. You can go to another country and say her name and they wouldn't know her. Whether or not you like MJ everyone has heard of him...he is the BIGGEST STAR EVER...there just wasn't that same interest in Farrah. When Farrah died at the hospital, I dont recall there being hundreds of people converging on the site to find out what was going on. I don't recall the internet crashing once news of Farrah's passing was made public...MJ IS AN ICON, bottom line....DEAL WITH IT!!!!!!!
