Random Drawing for MJ Memorial Tickets

Michael Jackson Memorial Tickets Michael Jackson's memorial service will be held at two separate venues on Tuesday morning -- the main event will be at the Staples Center and a simulcast will play at the Nokia Theatre.

A lottery has been set up for fans to obtain the free tickets -- and they can sign up for the random drawing on the Staples Center website ... good luck logging on.

17,500 tickets are available for the event -- 11,000 for Staples and 6,500 for Nokia -- which will be divvied out 2 per person. If you are one of the 8,750 people selected, you will then be alerted on Sunday with further instructions.

Oh yeah ... only U.S. residents can apply.

Also, the family wouldn't say if Michael's body would be at the memorial.

46. To select small venues in cramped downtown LA is as stupid as can be. Heck, 150,000 people showed up to celebrate the Lakers championship. To believe people will obey by staying at home is naive to say the least.

47. Geez, I cannot wait for the memorial service to be over since then we will hear about someone else besides MJ.

I doubt the casket will be at the memorial serivce, since the private burial is supposed to beforehand. If is was at the memorial service , his fans would probably rush it or something.
It is unbeleiveable that people want to attend a memorial service when all anyone has been talking aobut for the last week is "Remebmering MJ."

I think the city should set up stands to see refreshments for this circus so they can recoup some of the money they will spend for security, EMS, etc. for this fiasco.
I dislike my tax money going for this. And CA is already broke- no moeny for police and security for this circus.

48. 26. Dude let him go....I think I would rather have my tax dollars, that was just recently increased since califorina is BROKE, go towards the LA LAKERS game then go towards MJ's memorial. I'm not a fan, never was....but I have no choice my money has to pay for his memorial. Take our money and pay to keep our police and firefigthers...without them our houses would be gone in the wildfires. IF the Jackson family wants staples center and the public there make THEM pay for it not us that are barely making ends me to begin with. Janet makes well enough money to cover the entire expenses. Its all BS That is comming out of the pockets of the hard working people. Plus where iS FARAH FAWCETTS public Memorial? MJ's death just totally took away from those who are fans of Hers

YOUR BIG tax dollars are paying for a lot of things you know nothing about...also I strongly believe The Jackson family members that also live in LA pay and have ,and are paying more in taxes than you have made in life! Your tax dollars probably wouldn't pay for one security guard. So hopefully that makes you feel better.
Perhaps if their was a outpouring from Fawcetts fans for a memorial, there would have been one. Like it or not Michael Jackson was bigger than life...not so much with Fawcett...Why wouldn't he eclipse her coverage? A Charlie's Angel for a 'short" span of time compared to a Mega Worldwide Superstar...surely even YOU can figure that one out!

51. I agree Manda_UK! But I'm sure it will be aired, so us fans in Europe can watch it as well!

52. I submitted my information without any problems, but when my sister and others try, they can't get through. This is a weird way to give out tickets.

53. Oh, please please please let Michael be there. I think propped up in a standard moon walking pose would be super fab! In fact, with the help of invisible wires, he could conceivably take his final, farewell moonwalk across the stage. Don't be horrified. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the Jackson family concocted a scheme such as this.

Why is eveyone asking if this will be televised? Can you imagine it NOT being televised after over a week of constant coverage? Besides, with TV coverage, Joe will be able to appeal to extreme numbers to hawk his latest wares.

56. This procedure has gotten me VERY nervous! There are going to be about a million people registering and only about 8,700 will be chosen?! I think this really sux.. I've been looking forward to going to the memorial service now there's a chance that I might not even be able to go..
And another thing, I'm sure there's going to be people registering that won't even be able to show up!
I thought they were just going to have people line up and have the 1st 17,500 people get their tix, but I'm sure there will be too much traffic and too much chaos.
There's going to be LOTS of heartbroken people when they find out the didn't get a ticket. And who wants to get a ticket to Nokia when the actual event isn't even there?!

57. You know the more i think about this ........I woldnt be surprise if reports come out that Michael is alread laid to rest..buried and they had a funeral service a couple of days before this memorial service is to take place. Some things aren't adding up to me, no real talk of a "viewing" his body. No celebrites coming out saying they will attend any type of service of any kind. His body is at a secret location ( which is understandable). But few details few questions answers.

58. For those of you asking if its going to be televised the answer is YES. If you watched the news conference they clearly said that it will be televised all over the world and on the internet. So everyone will be able to see it.

59. This is open to US residents only because the Jacksons obviously hate foreigners. Well, except for those scary "Nation of Islam" guys.

60. Manda_UK, it WILL be broadcast. They said that they'll have a free broadcast that and any channel can choose to run it.
I guarantee it will be on all our channels out here in the US. I'm sure BBC will be running it.

For those people who still plan on coming down w/o a ticket, thats really foolish and inconsiderate. Our city can't afford to handle crowd control.. no money to pay the cops...If you don't have a ticket, stay home and watch! If you were to stand outside Staples center, you won't see anything.. they said there will be NO tvs outside. Wouldn't you rather be at home watching it? Instead of looking at the outside of a venue, in the heat, and having cops tell you to leave?

Also, they chose the 20,000 seat Staples Center because AEG OWNS the Staples center.. so there is no cost for 'renting' a venue. Sure, they could get more people in at say Rose Bowl, but there would be a cost of venue then....
