Brad Pitt: With Friends Like You...

Brad Pitt's bike broke down yesterday -- so he hopped a ride with some photogs (not us) so he could get to a very important meeting. Now here's the rub -- he didn't want to be filmed even though he was in a car full of pappers.

169. This video was creepy, and I think it's the paps that should be embarrassed, not Brad Pitt. There was a complete lack of respect evident in their behavior. Not because he's a movie star, but because he's a human being.

IF the paps expected a trade, then they should have asked for it up front. "Hey, we'll give you a ride if you'll do a short video interview, we really need the break." Instead, he's trapped in the car obviously very uncomfortable. He clearly says several times it's not an interview. When they finally let him out (he even says he'd rather walk a couple of times on the tape), they then lecture him about saying thank you. Should he be grateful to people who clearly violating his privacy? To me it seemed like they spiritually and emotionally slimed him. It was like a pyschic molestation, actually. Very icky, creepy stuff.

The sad thing to me is that this video was presented as if Brad Pitt is wrong to decide when he'll be filmed or interviewed. He was on his way to a private meeting, not a press event. He is an actor, not public property.

What's scary to me is that anyone watching this video thinks that it's okay for ANYONE to be treated that way. It's not. No means no. Really. No. Means. No. Honor that. Accept that. Respect that. The world would be a much kinder, safer place if we would all recognize healthy boundaries with each other. This is really about human decency.

Perhaps Mr. Pitt would have said 'thank you' if the paps apologized for violating his privacy and boundaries. And perhaps he is a rude, selfish, ungrateful individual. That's his right! He's a human being, just like you and me.

To criticize him for refusing to be used and manipulated, for trying to be pleasant but firm about his desires in that situation, is essentially saying he has no right to privacy or respect. This is just so wrong. I will repeat, NO means no.

Typical of the hollywood scene - they think they are in a class of their own and they are - I think you call it the ignorant!
