47. The death of MJ could simply be linked to the fact that he wanted to be a whiteman, multiple surgeries, slept in Ox chambers as a result of the side effects etc. I think the world should be warned that looks isn't all that counts.

49. he didnt want to be black anymore.his nose is two thirds smaller which means his lungs have been starved for oxygen since the first nose job.is he the only one in his whole family with vitiligo? which i think is a cow disease.watch the you are not alone video.his skin is white and that is not make up.he has no pectoral muscles. a black man can not produce blond hair,blue eyed kids.

50. Love is definitely blind, judging by some of your comments about how each of his faces is beautiful. He was a talented guy to be sure, but he was a FREAK! As if the horrific nose reconstructions/destructions weren't enough, once he got the cheek implants and the chin implants he was positively gross and scary. The guy didn't need all the doctors he was seeing for his drug fix - he needed deep, intensive therapy. I also noted from a recent interview I saw that he was speaking fairly normally. So, it seems he had just been affecting the little wee baby voice for all those years. Was there anything about this guy that was legit? He was nuts for wanting to remake himself as a white guy and it's not the fault of plastic surgeons. His choice! His own responsibility! The time he dangled the baby over a balcony - whose fault was that? Stop making excuses for him. He'd been an adult for a long time and that's over three decades of his own bad choices.

52. MJ is a person who had obvious mental illness and I am not talking about the child molestation issue .
He was so uncomfortable with his own self image and uncomfortable with his own personal demons that he chose drugs and plastic surgery to compensate for what he felt he lacked. Turning him in the end into a drug addict and looking like a freak. In the end he cause his own dimise.
It is just huge tragedy and to see his father and Jermaine out there pimping their pwn self serving venues is discusting. The real vitims in all of this is the children every one says he loved them and I have no doubt that he did to bad that he loved his drugs more. I hope the children turn out ok I do wonder how all the years of living with MJ and his odd behavior has affected them. I hope Katherine Jackson does the right thing stepping out and getting counseling for the children they would really benefit from therapy. What a heavy burden to carry being MJ kids they will need help in stepping out of the shadows and I hope Joe Jackson stays far far away it is obvious that he only looked at all of his kids as cash cows.

The general acceptance of cosmetic surgery shows that people no longer feel contempt for those who change themselves to be something they are not


Flip through any media columns dealing with the death of Michael Jackson and you are bound to come across the vitriol and scorn piled on him for his self-loathing, which saw him allegedly change his skin tone to white, and subject his body to the brutal scalpels of the extreme makeover vultures.

What is missing from this tragic script is the uncomfortable truth about the persistently negative self-image of black people, which emanates from a history that has taught us that white is better.

What is missing is a recognition of the role that skin-whitening creams and chemical-based hair products have played, and continue to play, in the lives of many dark-skinned people.

Jackson constantly denied the use of skin bleaches, attributing his changing skin tone to a condition known as vitiligo, which causes patches of depigmentation.

Media and entertainment pundits have presented the constant change in Jackson’s features as a freakish phenomenon, when, in truth, his constant battle with his blackness and his physical appearance should be placed in the context of a society — both black and white — which loathes itself.

That society exists in a world which is happy to produce resources and products that allow us to change those features of ours that we dislike.

Cosmetic surgery is increasing at an alarming rate, in a society which seems to be embracing everything that we used to shun.

Thousands of dark-skinned people across the globe spend copious amounts of money trying to change their skin tone or straighten their hair.

Conversely, white people spend a sizeable amount of money frying themselves in the sun, or under tanning machines, risking their health to acquire a darker skin tone.

The skin whitening products industry is a multibillion-dollar enterprise. Its marketers simply prey on the insecurity of people, particularly the negative self- image that many dark-skinned people carry around.

Ask any man or woman who used these creams in the past, and they will tell you that there were better opportunities then for people with lighter skins.

In India, millions of dollars are spent on skin-lightening creams, stemming from an age-old cultural belief that links fair skin with higher caste status and superiority.

In the US, the Caribbean and large parts of Africa, women still clamour for the products despite the widely known health risks.

Many will claim that they ridicule Jackson because of the level to which he took the entire notion of whitening himself — literally changing his entire body.

But to understand why anyone would want to go to such lengths, you need to have seen some of the “beneficiaries” of these products. The telltale signs of the skin lightening “treatment” were there for all to see. The poor women couldn’t put their hands to their faces because of the sharp contrast between the colour of their hands and their whitened faces. Many had to keep their necks covered for the same reason.

In its worst stages, a famous SA skin lightner would leave indelible purple marks around their cheeks and eyes — which the women would have to cover with dark glasses.

This scenario obviously just wouldn’t do for the King of Pop.

History aside — as it cannot be solely to blame for the quest to be what we are not — skin-lightening products with hydroquinone are back on the market, despite being banned in many countries, including the UK, the US and South Africa.

The wig, weaves and hair extensions ­ which, for a while, were frowned upon as “trying to be white” — have resurfaced, with just about every celebrity and financially powerful woman using them.

The amount of money poured into cosmetic changes, and the general acceptance of such procedures, points to he fact that people no longer feel contempt for those who change themselves to be something else. So why don’t we all just dump the hypocrisy — and leave Michael Jackson alone?
