Liz Taylor Avoiding Jackson Memorial 'Whoopla'

The guest list for tomorrow's Michael Jackson Staples Center memorial is pretty prestigious -- but one person who definitely won't be there: Dame Elizabeth Taylor.

Taylor just wrote on her Twitter: "I've been asked to speak at the Staples Center. I cannot be part of the public whoopla. And I cannot guarantee that I would be coherent to say a word. I just don't believe that Michael would want me to share my grief with millions of others. How I feel is between us. Not a public event. I said I wouldn't go to the Staples Center and I certainly don't want to become a part of it. I love him too much."

And, for the record, she also writes she's "not on suicide watch."

Thank you, Liz ! I loved and adored MJ too although we never met.
Went to Singapore for his Concert in 1996 and shall remember that alwyas!
Have been lighting a Candle and praying for him to RIP every day since
he passed away.. I just can't stop crying when hear his songs.. :(

214. Liz, you have been a dear friend to Michael for many years. I have followed your career since you were a child.I loved Michael also even through the bad times. He was his own person you could not have saved him as you know all you can do is pray. He wouldn't let anyone help him he was too far gone into his own hell here on earth. I cannot judge him for who am I but a regular person with problems of my own. but I can pray for his children and that he went to heaven. I know the Lord understands about human frailty. Why knock someone when they are not here to defend themselves. Prayers to you Liz to help you cope with this horrible thing the media is doing to him. A fan forever to you both.
