Jackson Doc Mum on Administering Anesthesia

7/6/2009 11:05 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Michael Jackson's DoctorThe lawyer for the doctor who was at Michael Jackson's home the day he died tells TMZ he did not give Jackson OxyContin or Demerol that day, but he wouldn't say the same about the powerful anesthesia found at the singer's home.

Dr. Conrad Murray was interviewed by LAPD detectives a week ago Saturday. Law enforcement sources tell us the information Dr. Murray gave police regarding drugs at Jackson's home was enough for cops to secure a search warrant from a judge. A search warrant can only be issued if there is probable cause to believe a crime has been committed.

Law enforcement sources say when police searched the home, they found the powerful anesthesia Propofol. The drug was specifically labeled Propofol and there was no indication it had been prescribed to anyone.

Edward Chernoff reiterated to us his client did not administer Demerol or OxyContin to Jackson the day he died. But Chernoff would not take the same stand on Propofol. Chernoff told us, "I have no statement on whether the Dr. prescribed or administered Propofol."

Chernoff added, "We're confident whatever the doctor prescribed did not kill Michael Jackson."

As we reported last week, cops obtained a search warrant the day after Jackson died. A second warrant was issued two days after Dr. Murray's interview -- that's the one that led cops to the Propofol. The second warrant may have been necessary if the first warrant only covered prescription medications.

The LAPD and the DEA are on the hunt to determine how the Propofol ended up in Jackson's home. The drug should never be administered outside a hospital.

UPDATE:
A spokesman for attorney Ed Chernoff just called to say when Chernoff spoke with TMZ last night "He was not conscious. He had just woken up and he can't speak for anything that was in the home."

In fact, it was just after midnight Houston time when we spoke with him. We were on the phone with Chernoff for nearly 20 minutes. He repeated multiple times that he had no comment regarding the Propofol. Aside from the comments we quoted above, Chernoff said, "I have no comment on whether the doctor administered Propofol." He also said, "I can't deny or admit what the doctor might have prescribed." He also said "I can't say if the doctor gave him Propofol."

Chernoff went on to talk about the LAPD investigation, sounding very alert and choosing his words carefully: "When all the results come in, the truth will come out and the correct result will be obtained." He also asked questions about what we knew regarding which drug may have killed Michael Jackson.

This doctor or the doctors responsiable for this is a disgrace for the body of physicians and should pay for it.

And another thing, morning fans should have the right to go to Staple center even without a ticket, It is human beings who love Michael for heaven sake and want to show up and pay their final respect. Is screens to hard to put up? If so the event should take place somewhere else where everybody who want to attend should be able to.

MJ obviously had a history and ongoing problem with substance abuse. The media is acting as if it's a big mystery why he'd be using propofol. If they'd bother to google "rapid detox" they'd have their answer. Either MJ had undergone true rapid detox in the past and was doing his own abbreviated version as a way to detox each night or he was doing the real thing and it killed him. Many deaths have been associated with rapid detox programs done at hospitals let alone at home.

somebodys imagination are very very ugly and show us how ill people should be. I think some ks and hc2009 here (also the congressman) to be ashamed. Their dirty fantasy is an impertinence for humanity. Those people have a desperate persecution complex. It´s pitiful...&...horrible to be part of the audience for something like that.....

Swedish fan...

We do not have royalty in our country and, hopefully, the Michael Jackson Estate reimburses Los Angeles County some of the expenses from this size funeral as the State of California is bankrupt. Find the hero within yourself or reignite ABBA so you have someone within your country to worship instead of a far off Neverland where a mentally ill boy-man existed in a very peculiar, self-created, and self-responsible world.

Didn't his personal nurse admitted on the CNN interview that she brought the Propofol to Michaels?..she wanted to show him how dangerous it was and then she said she never administered to him, she didn't want to. However it doesn't say that she took the drug back to where she found it. Did she left it at Michaels? ..so there it goes, now you know how MJ got hold of the Propofol. Just saying, someone should question her about that. HUMM....

"Didn't his personal nurse admitted on the CNN interview that she brought the Propofol to Michaels?.."

Just the opposite. The nurse told him stop injecting the drug as it could kill him.

This Doctor is an irresponsible creature and he should live the rest of his life in jail now!
His job was to look after MJ at all times and the moment MJ most needed him he was not even capable of reaching to a phone and making a quick call. I have been in the same situation with a patient once at home and I yelled and called an ambulance immediately. There is no excuse. One has to run for help. One has to take the life of the other in the hands and make the best in order to give that person the best urgent treatment possible! Dr Murray you failed to do the only thing you were paid to do. You deserve no sympathy from any of us now! And you also disappeared shortly after his death - you had to hide and build up your defense case with your lawyer right? But God is going to bring things in the open for all to see! It's only a question of time.

I agree....LAPD should have secured the house immediately and certainly not allowed moving trucks in the next day before an accurate assessment of a possible crime scene was made. As it is, the scene has been compromised and that is what the doctor or whoever else will say. POOR police work.
