25. Why did this conviction take so long. I recently saw the movie. So sad. Does anybody know what happened to Zack's older brother. He was out of his mind and swore to kill Johnny Truelove. Also, it seems it was not the intent to kill the kid. He wanted to scare off the older brother to extract drug money owed. Truelove felt cornered and acted like the bully and coward that he is. Apparently there were millions of opportunities to avoid this tragedy, there were several occasions when the kid was asked to leave and go home. Truelove will get some hellish justice by the cons for killing a kid. This guy won't last.

Who the heck is Johnny Truelove, Zack and Zack's brother? If you're asking about Ben Markowitz - the victims brother - he got married and had children.. supposedly cleaned up his life. He testified at Jesse James Hollywood's trial.. and apparently he was a great witness - he admitted his past right up front and the defense couldn't shake him.
It doesn't matter what Ben Markowtiz was doing back then - there was NO reason for these thugs to murder a 15 year old child. You're right that there were times that Nick could have escaped. but he was scared they'd hurt his brother.... and he really believed that they would let him go.
The only people to blame here are Ryan Hoyt and Jesse James Hollywood and Jesse Rugge -- the people who helped kidnap Nick also bear some blame... so many people knew that he had been kidnapped but said nothing.
This murder didn't have to happen... and I hope that Hollywood is sentenced to DEATH.
To be honest, coming from someone that was close with Nick, and is still close with his family, we don't want the death penalty. we want life without parole, and for him to serve his sentence in a general population prison.
another good movie is "bully" its full of actors you've probably heard of and based on a true story.
the book is even better
Hopefully he will be convicted and sentenced to death. The penalty should be death by firing squad with the parents of Nick Markowitz pulling the trigger.

To Lanie, Thanks for the information about Nick's brother. There were so many characters in the film maybe I got the names all wrong. In any event, we can all agree that there is no justification for a lot of what happens in this world, especially murder. But in re-telling the event and saying what happened, it is perfectlty OK to say
THESE EVENTS HAPPENED BECAUSE OF THIS AND THAT.
Saying what happened does not equat to justifying what happend. The reality in this case was that drugs were involved (let me make some happy here, drugs are bad)
Then they kidnapped the victim to extract money (kidnapping is bad)
Then feeling cornered, he and friends committed murdered (killing is bad)
There is intent and then there is pre-meditation. According to these events, he intended to blackmail the brother for money owed and his crazy plan spiraled into murder. Stating how it went down does not mean giving an excuse for the perpetrator. Using your logic, we nobody can talk about things.
