Pelosi Shoots Down Jackson Resolution

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee promised fans she'd get a resolution passed in Congress honoring Michael Jackson -- but Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi just 86'd the proposal.

Nancy Pelosi: Click to watch
In a news conference moments ago on Capitol Hill, Pelosi said that while Jackson was "a great performer," a resolution "will open up two contrary views that are not necessary at this time to be expressed."

Somewhere Rep. Pete King is doing a righteous fist pump.

20. WHAT? She Who Must Not Be Named actually did something I respect? The fact that she, of all people, is the voice of reason in this crowd still isn't very encouraging, but I'm so glad one of them said something which so obviously had to be said.

23. 8. Whatever, some of our past presidents have been involved in the biggest scandals ever and we can't give Michael Jackson this resolution? WHATEVER NANCY

Sorry, but Jackson doesn't deserve it. He has done nothing in many years and died leaving debts, a strange legacy and is also a drug addict. Give the honor to our troops or police/firemen/women. They are the real hereos. He got paid enough for his entertaining.

30. I'm quite sure if Pelosi was an MJ fan and/or the Jacksons contributed money to her then she would have gotten it done. While I agree it's not the right time to do it, I think something should be done in the future. Rep. King can kiss my ass.
