The company's owner got into trouble with the Securities and Exchange Comission because he was suspected of running a Ponzi scheme with said company, bilking his investors.

Now the BK lawyers want to sue Paris Hilton because she is the one actress in the movie who has money?

I always feel sorry for investors who get swindled by the Bernie Madoffs of this world.
But it's not Paris Hilton's fault that the guy let his company go bellyup through crazy investments.

32. WELL, HERE WE GO AGAIN !!! It was such a pleasure, at least for me, lately, to scroll TMZ and not be bombarded by insignificant articles featuring the ever boring Paris Hilton! For goodness sake, TMZ, why is this woman news worthy? What earth shattering fete has she accomplished? NOTHING! 33. Th legal reason is vague, the contract did not specify that she had to make certain amount of appearances.

At least that's what it said in the papers. It looks like a gray area and I really hope she wins this one. This suit is a blatant attempt to get money.

The FIFI awards are like the Oscars. Paris's products are very good.

35. @ Rhoda : If the reason is vague then I'd just let the judge decide; mabye they have a point. I like Paris, but justice is also important. It could be good for the movie too, although I have not seen it.

She had nothing to do with Utsick's now defunct investment company.

To come four years later and try to recoup some money for the company under flimsy pretenses is really stretching things.

38. Apparently the judge said he will let the suit proceed but it is up to the lawyers bringing the suit to prove that any more promotion would have resulted in the DVD making more money.

They're shaking the money tree and they probably won't win.
But remember, lawsuits are always stressful and Paris Hilton will have to pay her lawyers.
Nobody should have to go through that.

40. I did some research and it appears that Paris did some promotional activities; I'd say enough if the movie is not that good anyway. And she said: "Any chance I got, any red carpet, any press, if I was doing something for another product, even if I wasn't asked about it, I would just bring it up". If that's true, she even did *much* promotion.
