Jackson Doc Offers 'Potent Narcotic' Solution

One of Michael Jackson's doctors wanted Michael Jackson to trade his dependence on Demerol for another "potent narcotic."

Dr. Alex Farshchian wrote Michael Jackson a letter -- dated July 21, 2002 -- in which he writes, "Buprinex (sic) is the potent narcotic I told you about last week. It is just like the D but better." Buprenex is an injectable narcotic painkiller.

Jackson Doc Offers 'Potent Narcotic' Solution

During a search of Neverland, Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies seized a scribbled note -- which may have been written by Jackson and found around his drug stash -- that says "Buprenex does the same as demerol, the only difference is you can't become an addict on Buprenex." The note refers to Buprenex as "synthetic demeroll (sic)." It goes on: "2 viles, I would feel safe having it in case of axident (sic)."

Our research shows if Buprenex is taken for long periods of time or at high doses, it can become addictive.

The doctor refers in his letter to a "5-7 day program that offers you the solution." The doctor does not explain the program.

181. It is possible to become addicted to Buprenex, although less likely than with other opioids. A few months after that letter was written Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) was approved. Suboxone is a very effective treatment for opioid addiction including Demerol. Unfortunately, according to the DEA Dr. Alimorad Farshchian does not have the proper credentials to prescribe or administer Buprenorphine for opioid addiction.

182. How can he spell "synthetic" correctly but not "vial" or "accident"? Weird.
Either way, this paints a very sad picture of a talented but tragic figure :(

186. NOTICE THAT THE WORDS "THIS IS IT" APPEAR IN THIS LETTER! HOW IRONIC IS THAT,,,OR IS THERE SOMETHING MORE SINISTER TO ALL THIS?

187. As a practicing RN of 30 years I do not understand why there was no Narcan in the house. Narcan is used to nullify the effects of most narcotics. I have had patients in respiratory distress due to narcotics and have them sit straight up after giving Narcan. In most states, if narcotics are given in the home, Narcan has to be in the home as well in case of a reaction. Seeing that a doctor was present, there should have been Narcan on the premises.
