Artie Lange Proclaims DUI Innocence

Artie Lange"Howard Stern Show" funnyman Artie Lange has been open about his battles with drugs and alcohol -- so when he says he wasn't drunk the day he was busted for DUI, we tend to believe him.

Artie proclaimed his innocence during today's show on Sirius. He explained that he was on his way to pick up a prescription for his sick mother when, as we first reported, he rear-ended another car.

Lange said he blew a 0.0 on his Breathalyzer and passed every test the officer gave him -- he said he doesn't know what part he failed.

Lange was charged with driving under the influence and is due back in court on Thursday,

31. I remember when Howard was still on "free radio" the time that Artie went MIA for a few days. I couldn't believe Howard didn't fire his a**. What employer would put up with that? Anyway, I see he still has his demons....what a mess. But for some unknown reason, Howard puts up with it.

32. Artie said today that he couldn't comment as much as he'd like. He's struggled with addiction. He's been doing a great job. Cut him some slack. He's lost weight, looks great, and is still funny as hell. I love you Art.

37. There is no innocent until proven guilty in this country anymore. Michael Jackson was acquitted of child molestation and people still call him a child molester. OJ was acquitted of murder in criminal trial, but 99% of everyone still assume he killed Nicole and Ron.

Artie is a habitual liar and substance abuser. Anyone who listens to Howard knows this. Howard encourages the behavior by not suspending or firing Artie. Howard says he cares about Artie. Howard should, at the very least, suspend Artie until he completes a doctor supervised rehabilitation program and passes several random drug tests. Artie's problem is he doesn't want to clean up. Whenever the subject comes up, Artie says he will do rehab but only under his terms. That isn't how it works. If you truly want help, and want to quit, you will do what it takes to get the help.

Artie needs to also learn to shut up on the show. He interjects way too much with stupid "peanut gallery" comments that disturb the flow of the show. He gets more airtime these days than Howard. It is simply a sad situation. The show would be better without Artie. Then Artie can do his stupid reality show and use a stint in rehab for material.

40. I lived a few blocks from where this accident took place. And if he was GOING to the pharmacy to pick up medicine then he was going the wrong way. there are no stores in that direction. If he hit a car turning left onto Brand rd, then he was coming from the direction of all stores.. check out any map... Silver Bay rd comes from the business section and goes toward the water... Someone is not telling the truth....

43. Not sure how you can blow a .000 and get a dui. I am sure there is more to this than he is letting on. Addict's tend to lie to say the least.

And it just looked like he was cleaning up his act with the recent weight loss. This hopefully, will not send him down the wrong path.
