61. I think someone should be looking into counterfeit drugs distributed from China. I saw a show that mentioned how serious of a problem it is becoming and that its getting worse. How ironic if the Chinese were responsible for Michaels death. They loved him. Lead toys, clothes...now counterfeit drugs, hum, seems like enough evidence for our government to look into protecting us from China a bit more agressively.

62. Propofol is a widely used anesthetic drug, also very commonly used in the veterinary field. It has no preservatives in it to prolong it's shelf life, and becomes contaminated very quickly, even with just one needle inserted into the top. Aseptic technique is key when handling this drug. I would not be surprised if a vial was used multiple times, therefor injecting bacteria into the vial allowing bacteria to breed. It is a very fast acting drug, with anesthetic usually lasting only 15 - 20 minutes, long enough for anesthetic induction, where a patient would have an endotracheal tube inserted and then switched to a gas anesthetic to keep them asleep for prolonged periods of time. Too much propofol stops the heart, as do all anesthetics. Proper does rate is essential, but overdoses and allergic reactions to drugs do happen, killing patients.

63. In response to posting number 22.
this is so true that propofol (diprivan) had been tainted since june of 2007. Mid june - july 2007, a person that i know was hospitalized and had fever, respiratory distress, and acute respiratory faillure, pleural effusion after taking propofol (diprivan). he was in shock.
I'm certain that the bach was tainted. The person died of cardiorespiratory arrest.
To say all patients taking this Hypnotic/sedative recovered is just not true.lots and lots of people died from propofol (diprivan).
How could they do that to us. the patient suffered a lot (couldn't breath) and I have to beg nurses to search for what was wrong.
I'm not surprised though because FDA always take at least 2 years to recall a drug in the market when it is detrimental to our health.
This company must pay.
Back in mid june-july 2007, many people died from this drug in Florida. A this time, I never slept, was at the hospital and monitor everything.

If one vial was used for many patients, we must expect cases of not only from propofol(diprivan)-fever, chill, cardiorespiratory arrest, acute respiratoy faillure, respiratory distress, pleural effusion, abnormal breathing etc but cases of Hepatitis B, HIV, and Aids are fair games as well -same as the endoscopy center of Nevada's cases dated back in 2004.
This is scary.-
Is emphyzema could be a problem also with propofol. Michael Jackson they said had emphysema and GI bleeding, Could these 2 illnesses have an absolute contraindication to Propofol (diprivan).
I'm just asking b/c propofol causes abnormal breathing, lower heart rate (bradychardia), and lower blood pressure.
In 2007, a patient died of bradycardia and cardio respiratory arrest.
propofol (diprivan) is detrimental to health.
For a drug to be in the market, it has to be safe and effective. Propofol (diprivan) is not safe and it Kills many.
don't give it to horses nor dogs.
