Disabled Claim 'Dancing' Is Doggone Unfriendly

Dancing With The StarsTwo physically disabled people are suing "Dancing with the Stars," claiming the show's studio is so disabled-unfriendly a cameraman threatened to run over a service dog.

Robert Carr and Arnie Pike claim in a new lawsuit they went to CBS Television City in L.A. last March to watch the show. Carr is a double amputee who is confined to a wheelchair. Arnie Pike is a quadriplegic who also requires a wheelchair.

The men claim they arrived with two companions and a service dog and were forced to watch as the majority of the audience was let in ahead of them.

The suit claims the studio has no "designated accessible seating for persons with disabilities." They claim the staff has "a policy of placing disabled persons where they cannot be seen by the camera or the public."

DWTS CurseAccording to the suit, Pike was placed behind several rows of seats where he could not even see the action on the stage. The worst slight of all -- allegedly -- "his service dog was placed in the aisle where the camera man threatened to run over the dog."

The suit -- which also lists CBS as a defendant -- claims "Dancing" violates the Americans with Disabilities Act and asks for an order forcing the show to institute disabled-friendly policies. The plaintiffs also want damages.

93. I don't understand this lawsuit at all. 95% of the people they have dancing on this show are disabled in some way - mostly talent disabled, but disabled!

95. I only wish some of you "Intelligent people " someday would know how someone confined to a wheelchair or scooter lives. I would love to see you spend a week in our shoes. Not being able to stand up to even use the bathroom by yourself without the help of someone.
Have you ever thought about how it would be to be wheeling through a parking lot full of cars and sitting lower then they can see in some of these SUV's. Not being able to enter a restaurant or shop because of steps instead of a ramp. Ramps don't have the same curb appeal you know.
No, I am not feeling sorry for myself, just stating facts of my life.

I AM SO ALLERGIC TO ANIMALS MY THROAT CLOSES UP WITHIN MINUTES. SO WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO THREATEN MY LIFE???

CALL IT WHAT IT IS FOR ONCE, JUST A MONEYGRUBBING WAY FOR YOU AND YOUR LAWYERS TO CASH IN ON SOMEONE DOING BETTER THAT YOU. CIVIL RIGHTS??? BULLCRAP. DAMAGES??? BULLCRAP. I HOPE YOU LOSE AND THE DEFENDANTS SUE YOU FOR THEIR TIME AND LEGAL FEES.

97. Whether dealing with disabled people or not, most audience show crew members are complete assholes. I hope the people responsible for their inappropriate actions are dealt with. Are the workers on that show even union? I went and watched Jimmy Kimmel once, and while I am not disabled, my family and I were treated horribly even after a close friend called the show and arranged VIP passes and a meet and greet for us. I really feel like crews on audience shows are the worst and I understand how those two people must have felt. I was taken aback from my experience and I'm a hot 25 year old female and I was treated worse than the poor service animal at DWTS. Really, the PA's were spitting venom at us and I really have no idea why.

98. I'm looking at all these hateful and hurtful comments and i can't help but think how much we as americans havent changed. People wanting things the way they want them. Its sad. Karma is a bitch and i hope you all get yours. You people that are being so hurtful are probably the fat asses who sit behind their computers smoking and drinking and who are going to cost honest hard working taxpayers money for health care. don blame obama or bush. I blame you. If it werent for you guys, we wouldnt need all this money. Geez. I have a good job and great people around me and i dont need to hear how miserable people are by making rude hateful comments. You wish you could be half as amazing as we (handicapped people) are.
