Michael Jackson -- Lien on Me

8/5/2009 3:44 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Michael Jackson -- Lien on MeOpen the floodgates -- the creditors are getting in line for a piece of the action in the Michael Jackson estate case.

Segye Times -- a South Korean newspaper -- won a judgment against Katherine, Joe and Jermaine Jackson, along with the Jackson Record Company, back in 1994. The suit claimed the newspaper paid the family $5.5 million for a series of Jackson family concerts in 1989 that never took place.

A judgment was entered for $4 million. Segye Times now wants $7,865,730.78 -- interest is a bitch!

It's interesting that Michael was not sued personally. Nonetheless, under the category "better late than never," Segye wants the estate to pay up.

Stay tuned...

This company has been fighting to get what is due to them way before MJ over dosed. When you die and you owe money and you still have it like MJ does, the creditors get paid first. He owes millions upon millions of dollars. So MJ fans quit your childish whining. MJ got himself into debt, no one did that to him. MJ was a major drug addict, no one forced him to be one. Herei is an idea. Why don't you honor your pedophile drug addict idol and pay his $400+million (can you cound the zeros?) dollar debt? I doubt you can collect $2.00 between all of you.

They are not suing the Estate as much as they are suing a beneficiary of the Estate - Katherine Jackson, who is presently slated to gain 40% of the assets in the Estate. This is a legitimate lawsuit as the Jacksons benefited from the company but did not live up to their obligations. There are going to be MANY LAWSUITS against Katherine Jackson due to her present windfall in monies. She is also legally responsible for child support to 2 of Jermaine children as he claimed to be broke and living off his mother. The judge placed a judgment against her and you can bet that Margaret is going to collect.

It seems to me that the estate would NOT be liable for this debt as the judgement was against Joe, Katherine, and Jermaine and Michael was not responsible for their debts. Joe and Katherine already filed bankruptcy which would nullify this debt for their parts so it seems that the liability would fall on Jermaine. As Jermaine did not inherit any part of Michael's estate, it seems logical that this would be thrown out.

54. Yes, the Moonies were behind this, but MJ did not know that at the time the concert(s) were under discussion. When he was first approached (by Joe) he told him no. Joe was pressing him as the South Koreans were offering a lot of money, and many of MJ's siblings were desperate for cash. The South Koreans had gone to Joe's production company at first, to get to MJ through Joe. They bought expensive cars for several members of his family...they were 'influencing' everyone in sight, shall we say. According to MJ's biographer, the girlfriend of MJ's longtime security guard (Bill Bray) even got in on the act, and told them they weren't going to get anywhere without her on their side, and that she wanted a SL500 Mercedes convertible that was sitting in the driveway. She was handed the keys on the spot. In short, that is how stupid the whole non-deal had become. Nothing was working. Eventually they offered KJ a lot of money, I think it was 500K or a mill, to talk some sense into MJ. He told her he'd 'think about it. After one of main negotiator for the South Koreans got on the phone and pleaded with MJ and actually started crying, that's when MJ finally agreed to do something for them. I honestly don't recall what happened after that, whether KJ kept the money or just what. But at one point MJ found out the Moonies were behind it all and he was furious. I have no idea whether he actually performed for them. Didn't know about the judgement either.

Jackson was a small time Madoff,he stole many millions from several people.!They do deserve to recoup their monies as per the law.I hope ,each and every last person he & his company stiffed, get the monies they are owed! He defaulted on so many banks and private investors over the years not to mention the men/women that he owed royalites from Thriller to. The list must be endless and it is high time they get their cash!

76. Ok to you all you MJ fans. Put down the crack and learn some facts will ya. MJ owes over $400 MILLION dollars. All the creditors will go after the estate which is their right. How do you think your has-been drug addict idol got in this situation in the first place? He didn't pay his bills because he was too busy BUYING DRUGS. So please stop proving the MJ fans are idiots because that is exactly what you are doing here. If you don't want to know the truth, get off the net will ya. You aren't mature enough.

HIS CREDITORS YES. This judgement was against Katherine, Joe and Jermaine NOT MICHAEL. This judgement was also BEFORE JOE AND KATHERINE FILED BANKRUPTCY.

The reason Michael wasn't sued is that this was set up by Joe & Katherine Jackson in a deal with the Moonies in Korea without Michael's knowledge. It was only one of a number of times Joe and his clan went behind Michael's back to commit him to something he didn't want to do. He came off an overseas tour to find out what they'd done and refused to go to Korea. For some reason, I thought he ultimately caved in...like he usually did for these leeches...but apparently my memory is faulty. Looks like he still has to pay for it though.
